In regard to a report by Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated that Dean Malenko has departed WWE, PWInsider.com can confirm Malenko is gone from the company.
Barrasso's report states that Malenko, who had been with WWE since 2000 and had been a producer since retiring, quit the company.
Update 7 AM EST: Although several sources I spoke with cautioned Malenko may not have have quit, this AM PWInsider.com confirmed Malenko did indeed give notice and quit. Barrasso's report is 100% correct.
There have been a huge influx of new producers brought into the company over the last six months with many of the older producers being cycled on and off the road. As I previously reported, there had been a fear among some that this was the start of some of the old guard being replaced.
Malenko, however, is officially done with WWE and the departure was official as of this afternoon.
