After stepping down as the co-head of the Smackdown Live writing team last week, WWE Hall of Famer Brian "Road Dogg" James was not in Montreal for the WWE TV tapings this week.
The word we are getting is that James will be taking an extended break from the company as all involved assess the situation and see where he may fit in going forward.
With James not there, Ryan Ward headed up the creative team at the Smackdown taping this past Tuesday, handling the responsibilities usually overseen by James.
James is still considered with the company and there is no current timetable for his return.
