I saw a report online that Brock Lesnar threatened to leave Wrestlemania 35 if he didn't go on first, cursed out Vince McMahon and then immediately stormed out of Mania 35, leaving by helicopter. How is it that PWInsider.com ignored this story?
Well, we ignored it because it wasn't true. I have no idea where that story originated, but nothing of the sort happened. Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar pitched that they open the show, which did happen late in the day with the change coming around 5:30 PM, but that only happened because Vince McMahon made the call to do it and surprise everyone, not because Lesnar forced the issue. I am sure Brock didn't want to sit around and wait until the end of the show, but the idea that he cursed out Vince or any other dramatic scene, that just didn't happen.
Also, whoever reported that Lesnar left by helicopter showed how little they know. When Lesnar (and John Cena, etc.) fly into the New York City area area privately, they do so out of a private airport in Teterboro, NJ. That airport is a TEN MINUTE drive from MetLife Stadium. While I have no doubt Lesnar immediately headed for his plane and went home as soon as he humanly could, the idea he took a helicopter to an airport that was within a ten minute leisurely drive, come on. I think you need to be a LOT more discerning with what you are reading. It makes for great copy, but so did The Bat Boy in Weekly World News. Try Robert A. Heinlein for some much better science-fiction.
Has there been any talk of a sequel to Fighting with My Family?
Nothing that I have heard, but if they could come up with the right story, I'm sure it would be considered.
When Brian Pillman made his ECW arena debut, it ended with him attacking a “fan,” a skinny guy with a ridiculous red mullet. I’m curious if you know anything about that guy. When rewatching the old syndicated show on the network, he actually hit the ring with the rest of the locker room to break up an in-ring brawl months before the Pillman incident.
He was a trainee at the time who later worked under the name Chris Krueger.
What happened to Damien Kane, the brash mouthpiece from early ‘90s ECW? He had a good look, a nice package (no pun intended) with his wife/valet by his side, and he could go on the microphone. He even worked a few matches, and while he wasn’t going to set the world on fire with his work rate, he was fine by the standards of that era. I’ve read there was some sort of fallout involving Missy Hyatt during her ECW run. Any clarification would be appreciated.
Kane quit ECW following a bout where he felt his wife, who appeared as Lady Alexandra, was going to look bad in losing a match. He didn't mind if he was used as a lower level performer but he didn't want his wife treated that way and ended up walking out of the company. The match may have been against Missy, but I don't think it was a case of he was upset with her as opposed to the booking. Kane was actually held the promoter's license for ECW for a period of time in late 1995 and early 1996, so he actually allowed the company to keep running after their former license-holder Ed Zohn exited. The last I heard, Kane now lives in Florida and hasn't been involved in the business in some time. He actually dated back to the old days of the NWF in New Jersey, which Paul Heyman worked for during his formulative years in the business.
Random question, but around what time did Hulk Hogan settle on red and yellow as his primary colors? I know he wore those colors in the early ‘80s, but I saw a 1984 WWE title defense against George Steele on the network where Hogan was wearing blue trunks and boots with white knee pads.
It was late 1985 or eatly 1986 when that color scheme became permanent. Certainly by the first Wrestlemania, it was the color scheme Hogan was known for.
