WRESTLEMANIA CELEBRITY ROB GRONKOWSKI DONE WITH FOOTBALL

By Mike Johnson on 2019-03-25 00:19:00

Wrestlemania celebrity and Patriots Rob Gronkowski announced on Instagram Sunday night that he is retiring from professional football.

“I will be retiring from the game of football today,” Gronkowski wrote, noting he was ready to “move forward with a big smile knowing that the New England Patriots Organization, Pats Nation, and all my fans will be truly a big part of my heart for rest of my life.”

Gronkowski, a long-time friend of WWE Raw star Mojo Rawley dating back to college, hopped the railing at Wrestlemania 33 to assist Rawley in winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.  During that appearance, Gronkowski physically assaulted Jinder Mahal.  Gronkowski had attended a number of WWE NXT tapings to support Rawley before he was brought up to the main roster and the two remain close friends.

There have been consistent rumors that Gronkowski, 29, might be interested in a post-NFL WWE career, but time will tell whether that will turn out to be the case.
