As I reported earlier today in my Elite audio hotline, there was no big concern at last week's Raw taping that John Cena had been injured following the Fatal Four Way last week and yesterday, most of the WWE locker room learned about Cena's announced ankle injury when it was announced on WWE's website. Cena is slated to film his next movie Playing with Fire from 2/4 through 3/1 in Vancouver, British Columbia, playing the lead role of a smokejumper, a fire fighter who paracutes into remote areas to battle blazes. So, even if he worked The Rumble (or the TVs coming out of it), he would have more than enough time to travel to Vancouver to be on set in time.
Dolph Ziggler was not backstage at last night's Monday Night Raw and was only scheduled for this past weekend's live events. Ziggler lives in Phoenix so if WWE wants to place him in the Royal Rumble match, they could do so rather easily at the last second.
Sin Cara was back at the WWE Performance Center today working out in the ring. There's been talk of linking him to Rey Mysterio when he returns to the Smackdown brand.
Paige's family The Knights were doing media to promote Fighting with My Family today in the UK, so expect some articles and TV appearances in the days ahead to promote the WWE Studios film. They will be traveling into the United States for the surprise premiere at Sundance on Monday 1/28 in Salt Lake City. Paige, The Rock and Zelina Vega are also slated to attend the premiere. Paige has not been on the road for WWE since her role as General Manager was eliminated as part of the "new era."
