SHANE STRICKLAND VS. BRIAN CAGE, PENTAGON, FENIX, JOHN HENNIGAN, TESSA, TAYA, CALLIHAN & MORE: PCW ULTRA 'ANNIVERSARY A2K19' IN WILMINGTON, CA REPORT

By Shannon Walsh on 2019-01-19 07:42:00

PCW Ultra “Anniversary A2K19” third anniversary show results from Wilmington, California on 1/18/19 live on FITE.TV:

*Ultra Champion Shane Strickland came out to the ring to officially vacate the UltraLight Title due to now holding the Ultra Title.

*UltraWoman Champion Tessa Blanchard vs. Taya Valkyrie -  Blanchard used a Canadian Destroyer and immediately climbed up to the top rope to hit The Magnum for the pin.

*Sinn Bodhi vs. Michael Marshall in a Watts Rules Match - Bodhi came out wearing a big tie of firecrackers around his neck and he set them all off on his body as part of his ring entrance.   Marshall ran down a list a rules for the match. He said no throwing him over the top rope, no dives off the rope, no closed fists, and no piledrivers.   Bodhi got the pin after putting a tie of firecrackers around Marshall and setting them off followed by the double under hook DDT for the win. This was a comedy match with the heel Marshall of course breaking his own rules that he made when the referee wasn’t looking at times.

Scramble match for the vacant UltraLight Title: Fidel Bravo vs. Eli Everfly vs. Jake Atlas vs. The Oracle vs. Douglas James - Atlas pinned Bravo after a twisted splash off the top rope.   James joined the match just before it began as a surprise. This was his return to the company after suffering a hip injury last year.   Non-stop high action as expected between these five. Everfly did a dive on the others to the outside and landed badly right on top of the guardrail. It didn’t seem to slow him down as he managed to hit The Oracle with a top rope Canadian Destroyer later on.  Atlas gave a promo after the match because the crowd chanted “You Fucked Up” after he was unable to hit his LGBDDT finisher in the match. He said he always hits the move nine out of ten times but he thinks he blew out his knee yet still finished the match. He thanked everyone who cheered for him. He said 2019 will be his year because he trains and works hard from morning to night.

Tag Team Champions Warbeast (Jacob Fatu and Josef with Viva Van) vs. Sami Callihan and Mad Man Fulton in All Violence Is Legal match - Fatu pinned Fulton after the triple jump moonsault off the top rope. Fulton was a bloody mess as Josef used the spike on him early in the match. Van did a cross body dive off the top rope to the outside during the match, but when she tried to get involved later on, Callihan gave her a wicked looking piledriver.

Sam Adonis vs. Garza Jr. in a Special Challenge Match - Adonis beat Garza Jr. by DQ in an odd finish as Adonis made it look like Garza Jr. kicked him in the crotch. Referee Rick Knox saw it and called for the bell. This was a good “old school” wrestling match with lots of arm drags, leapfrogs, and sunset flip attempts. Adonis does the pro-Donald Trump heel gimmick and he has a picture of Trump’s face on his tights.

Johnny Ultra (John Hennigan) and PJ Black vs. Penta El Zero M (aka Pentagon Jr.) and Rey Fenix.  Black and Ultra got the double pin after a couple low blows. It looked like Black pulled the referee half out of the ring when Lucha Bros. were about to win. Fenix used the ropes as if he was walking a stairclimber at the gym. Black and Ultra hit a double team Spanish Fly off the top on Fenix but he kicked out. Fenix and Penta used the package piledriver/double stomp combo on Ultra during the match which looked impressive.

Ultra Champion Shane Strickland vs. Brian Cage - Strickland got the pin in an excellent long match with a roll up as Cage was going for the drill claw. Cage military pressed Strickland and threw him in the second row. Strickland worked over Cage’s injuried leg. Cage hit the buckle bomb into the spinning power bomb but Strickland managed to kicked.

After the match, Strickland got on the mic and announced “Wrestle Summit” for March 29 in Wilmington, California. It’s a co-promoted event with PCW Ultra, Impact Wrestling, Wrestling Revolver, MCW (Australia), and Defy Wrestling.
