By Kendall Jenkins on 2018-11-09 12:34:00

American roulette is one of the hottest roulette variants played across online casino tables globally.  Even so, the game tends to be more popular at both online and land-based casinos in the UK and Asia, while somehow, gamers dodge it in Europe because they instead prefer playing their European Roulette version. In case you’ve never tried this game before, then you are in luck. Spare the next few minutes for reading this guide, and you’ll be ready to enjoy this devil’s wheel variant in top online gaming sites such as Ruby Palace casino both for free and for real money.

American Roulette Overview

The American Roulette wheel has 38 partitions, where you find the numbers 1 to 36, 0 and 00. Numerals 1 to 36 are interchangeably painted in black and red whereas the 00 and 0 come with a green shade.

The primary aim of the game is to predict the numbered pocket that the roulette ball will fall after the wheel stops spinning. To do that, all gamers place wagers on a given number; then the croupier will spin the wheel and the roulette ball will start spinning in reverse. Right after the ball gets its way into the pocket with that given number; the corresponding gamers are rewarded. Since all the 38 numerals are identically arranged on the wheel, the ball has an equal chance of landing on any of the partitions.

Basic American Roulette Rules

Normally, in American Roulette, some of the chips used are identical to what you will find in other table games. After picking a roulette table to join, all gamers should exchange either cash or regular casino chips with the dealer. Each player will get chips of a different colour, something that’s done to prevent any form of confusions during payouts. When all the participating gamers receive their chips; they can now make their wagers. Bets are customarily placed on the roulette table. Players can put their chips on a single bet or a combination of bets just like in any other roulette game, but some of the rules differ.

After that, the dealer will spin the roulette wheel. Note that you can still stake your wagers, regulate them or cancel them altogether even after the wheel has started spinning, but not after the dealer calls off betting. The minute the ball drops in one of the wheel’s numbered pockets, the dealer distinguishes and declares the winning number. The dealer will then mark the number on the roulette table. The winners will then receive their payout while the losing bets are removed from the table. As the winners are paid, bets for the following round can be made.

Types of American Roulette Wagers

The American Roulette table layout has 2 divisions, individual number bets, and group bets. The inside wagers should be placed on a single number, adjacent numbers and a minor number of groups. The outside wagers comprise of bigger number groups. Here’s a closer look at the inside and outside bets of the game.

  • Straight-Up Bet

This is a wager you should place on any single number, 0 and 00 included, and right on the number. Here, the payout is 35 to 1.

  • Corner Bet

  • Five Bet

  • Line Bet

The line bet covers 6 numbers or three number two rows, and you should place it at the end of the 2 rows (on the border between them). It comes with a payout of 5 to 1.

Outside Bets

  • Bet on Color

Features all the red or black numbers on the layout. The red box stands for all red numbers while the black box stands for all the black numbers, and so you either place it on a red or black number. Here, the payout for this wager is 1 to 1.

  • Dozen Bet

Features a collection of 12 numerals. You can place this wager on the ‘3rd 12’ box (25 to 36), ‘2nd 12’ box (13 to 24), or the ‘1st 12’ box and they all have a 2 to 1 payout.

  • Bet on High/Low

Here, your wager will comprise of all high or low numbers, and you should place it on the ‘High’ box (19 to 36) or the ‘Low’ box (1 to 18). The payout rate here is 1 to 1.

  • Column Bet

Contains a complete column and you should place this wager on the ‘2-1’ box (at the end of the column). Here, you get a 2 to 1 payout on your initial stake.

  • Bet on Even/Odd

Consists of all odd or even numbers on the layout. Bets are made on the odd box (all odd numbers) or even box (all even numbers). However, the payout here is only 1 to 1.

  • NewAR Bet

This is a new kind of wager that you can place under special circumstances, i.e., in case, the winning number is the 0 or 00. In such cases, all the outside wagers we’ve discussed above will be halved and given back to the individual gamers. And as a result, with this type of wager, you only have 2 options, to bet that the winning number will be 0 or Red/Even, or it will be 0 or Black/Odd.

In case you place a NewAR bet on 0 or Black/Odd, and it turns out the winning number is neither 0 nor Black/Odd, the bet will be surrendered to the house. The same applies for 0 or Red/Even. Just in case the winning number is Red/Even or Black/Odd, the payout becomes 3 to 1. For 0 the payout becomes 2 to 1.
