Crown Jewel just made it clear why ratings are down. Strowman, who people love, gets buried again. Shane inserts himself in World Cup and and wins. Styles vs. Joe happened for millionth time in last 3 months. It’s same stuff all time, no young blood, no different challengers. Why would people tune in when they know they watched the thing week before on PPV?
I really don’t have anything to add. You are right on the money and the booking is the reason people are tuning out the second they are given other decent options (such as the Fall TV season and NFL). I think most people in the company understand that and agree with you. Unfortunately, the one that matters doesn’t.
How can Survivor Series be “the one night a year that we see Raw vs SmackDown”? What about the Royal Rumble, Money In The Bank and the world cup tournament at Crown Jewel? It takes about 2 seconds of thought to realize the Survivor Series claim is nonsense.
In WWE, the truth is what they say it is. I guess they could make the point that all of the matches are brand vs. brand and it isn’t a bad stand.
If the Saudi government was able to make concessions to have Renee Young take part of the Crown Jewel show as a member of the announce team, and appear multiple times on camera throughout the show, why aren't they able to make the same concessions to have women wrestle on the show?
They are able, they just don’t want to. It’s that simple. Their view of women isn't the same as ours.
At Crown Jewel, Rey Mysterio replaced his traditional cross in the center of his mask with a "RM" logo. If I am not mistaken, he has worn the cross on his mask his entire career. Was the cross removed in order to defer to the customs of Saudi Arabia?
Absolutely! Hulk Hogan didn’t wear one either. The cross is not over in the Muslim world, brother!0
I noticed that there haven't been any women's matches on SmackDown in the last several weeks. Is the WWE going back to the Divas period?
Yes, they are. The Evolution PPV was all an elaborate ruse so that WWE could then close the door in our faces and show us that women are really just eye candy! Or, they had an all women’s PPV to build to, then a show with no women’s match on it, so it made sense to not have any women’s matches on the show. Take your pick!
