WRESTLING ISN’T MMA, THE STATE OF 205 LIVE, RAW’S OVERRUN AND MORE

A couple of weeks ago, Raw ran over by about 10 minutes. When they were just starting the main event match with only 1 minute of air time left, I instantly flashed back to WCW. They used to pull that all the time. My question is how much tv time wiggle room will USA give WWE?? Can they just keep going with Raw until they’re done?? Or does USA have a boundary that not even Vince McMahon can cross?

USA likes the overrun.  It keeps viewers on their channel past the 11 o’clock hour and it’s free, first run programming.  I don’t know the exact number that WWE can run over but USA is a fan of the practice.

It seems every other week somebody is asking how will Owen Hart will get into the Hall Of Fame and if he will go in with The Hart Foundation!  Martha Hart is the reason he won't go in, but what happens when she passes away? The only reason I ask is cause it sounds like every Hart member wants Owen in the HOF and I wouldn't be surprised if Martha's own family wants him in there too!

That is a bit macabre, especially given how young she is.  But at that point, I would think WWE would ask the children what they want and if they want Owen inducted, he would be.

I know you have more probably given him more publicity than you would like but I need to ask…what in the world is wrong with Vince Russo?  A few weeks ago I read Mike’s column shortly after ROH sold out MSG thanking Dixie Carter for saving ROH and that same week, I came across on youtube Jim Cornette talking about how he was able to get Sinclair Broadcasting to purchase ROH.  Albeit the humor from Mike, Both fascinating pieces making intelligent points about a specific topic.  That same week, there was a video of Vince R, I believe (because I don’t think he can come up with a complete sentence) challenging Dave Meltzer to fight like they do in elementary school.  Whether one agrees with Mike J. Jim, or Dave is irrelevant, at least they are able to make logical and intelligent points about the business….whereas Russo, I find it hard to believe he had the intellect to write anything pertaining to the “Attitude Era” or take credit for it…It is inarguable at this point, Vince is nothing short of an embarrassment for any platform he is on and continues to fail spectacularly.  Everything he says has no thought attached to it.  When he moves his “brand” from one platform to another, it is such an asinine plan that it truly boggles the mind how anyone would take him.  What is even worse is Vince sounds as if he is still puzzled as to why people hate him.  He just doesn’t get it and likely never will.  His half-hearted attempt at reaching to former fans has been soundly rebuffed each time.

It would be so easy to take shots at Russo, as he has done so many odd things over the years, but I will answer this one seriously.  I think Russo is just trying to get any kind of publicity that he can.  Much like he “was inspired” by Paul Heyman’s booking when he was writing for WWE, he is trying to be like Howard Stern now.  He says outrageous things hoping that someone will respond to and/or mention him.  It’s a shame that a guy who made the money that he did with WCW has found himself at this point in his late 50s, but he is responsible for his choices.

I like watching 205 Live every week but without a doubt, the show is still suffering being place after Smackdown on Tuesdays. What would you guys personally do with this Cruiserweight Division now? Because as of this moment, I see no point of it anymore.

They are moving it to Wednesday this week but beyond that I think that the perception that they have given the viewers due to the way it has been used on the main roster has hurt the brand.  With that said, it’s bonus programming for the Network and it provides work for talented people.  It definitely has its purpose.

I've noticed Ronda Rousey has been bending her opponent's arm at the elbow when she applies her armbar finisher, which is not the correct way to apply the move.  An effective armbar requires hyperextension of the elbow in the other direction.  Does she apply the move the way she does in order to protect the opponent from legitimately injuring the arm?

In pro wrestling, the “correct” way of applying the move is however Ronda decides to do it.  She is not in MMA anymore!  Wrestling is a work and the idea is to make it look real without it being real.  No one in WWE wants to take legit armbars, nor should they!
