As noted last night, WWE briefly flashed a graphic for WWE Evolution featuring WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus vs. current WWE Raw Women's Champion Alexa Bliss for the 10/28 Evolution PPV at the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, NY. It was flashed for perhaps 30 seconds, but that was long enough for photos of the graphic taken by fans to hit social media.
WWE decided to make it official this evening:
Stratus officially retired following a win over Lita in September 2006. She has returned for a number of tag team bouts, but has only had one other singles bout since then, a March 2011 loss to Vickie Guerrero. Stratus worked the Women's Royal Rumble in Philadelphia this past January, exiting as the final competitor. During that bout, there was a tease of a future Stratus vs. Sasha Banks match, but WWE opted not to go in that direction.
In response to the match announcement, Banks wrote a comment on the WWE Instagram post, "I am not OK."
A WWE graphic for the PPV seen on the Barclays Center's video screens as WWE promoted the pre-sale for the PPV also promoted former WWE Divas and Women's Champion Michelle McCool, which is the first confirmation that she will be appearing at the PPV. McCool came out of retirement to compete in the Women's Royal Rumble this past Januart.
The Evolution PPV will feature the finals of the 2018 Mae Young Classic Tournament as well as Championship bouts for the Raw, Smackdown and the NXT Women's Championships. At one point, the Nassau Coliseum website also listed a NXT UK Women's title bout, but WWE has not confirmed that.
Ronda Rousey, Sasha Banks, WWE Hall of Famer Lita, WWE Raw Women's Champion Alexa Bliss, WWE Smackdown Women's Champion Carmella, Asuka, Nia Jax, and WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix are also advertised for the PPV.
