Following WWE’s Be A Star Rally at the Kipps Bay Boys & Girls Club yesterday in The Bronx, New York, I had the opportunity to speak with WWE Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler regarding a number of topics, including where he stands contractually with WWE, as his current deal had been expected to expire this summer.
Ziggler responded, “I feel like you’ll have to see Sunday or Monday but I’ve also heard that [his deal was coming up.] I’ve also heard about several different contracts that I signed but I didn’t sign."
I then asked Ziggler if he was giving me a no comment and he responded, "So…I’m giving you a comment. I’ve been doing some great work and looking forward to doing what I do and Sunday or Monday, we’ll see what direction we’re heading in afterwards.”
Ziggler has been signed to WWE since 2004, debuting on the main roster originally as a member of the Spirit Squad. He debuted under his Dolph Ziggler persona in September 2008 and has performed consistently for WWE since, including a WWE World Championship run.
As PWInsider.com reported at the time, Ziggler signed a multi-year deal with WWE in June 2015, leading to him starring in his first WWE Studios film Countdown.
Ziggler is in the midst of the biggest sustained push he has had in several years, associated with Drew McIntyre and recently main evented the WWE Extreme Rules PPV against Seth Rollins in an Iron Man Match.
