Shawn Michaels, also known as the Heart Break Kid, retired from wrestling in 2010 although he remained one of the most prominent wrestling figures throughout the 90s and 2000s.
Here are his 5 best matches at WrestleMania.
1- Shawn Michaels vs The Undertaker (WrestleMania 25)
We have seen some very amazing matches between The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels. Both fought with each in the first ever Hell in A Cell match at Badd Blood: In Your House, where Michaels won due to the intervention of Kane.
At WrestleMania 25, the two best wrestlers faced each other again. The Undertaker was going in that match with sixteen undefeated WrestleMania matches while Shawn Michaels was full of resolve to break that streak. A Chokeslam from The Undertaker could not break Michaels and neither could a Tombstone Pile Driver, confusing even The Deadman.
The Undertaker did win in the end but the resilience of Shawn Michaels was quite something to behold. This match later won several awards. The match at WrestleMania 26 was quite good, but this match was just perfect.
Since the Summerslam is just around the corner, you might like to bet on some of the matches at this event. In the big match, Brock Lesnar will be up against Roman Reigns. Roman Reigns looked good while defeating Bobby Lashley to earn this match against Lesnar, but will he be able to snatch the WWE title from Lesnar? And will AJ Styles prevail against Samoa Joe? What about Alexa Bliss and Ronda Rousey which is also expected to be a very interesting match?
2- Shawn Michaels vs Kurt Angle (WrestleMania 21)
This match between Shawn Michaels and Kurt Angle was probably one of the best wrestling matches ever. It was amazing to see both of these gifted wrestlers trying everything in their power to win the match. The resolve of both these wrestlers was incredible to behold in this match.
There was a lot of hype created for this match at the WrestleMania 21. This match lived up to that hype and provided the best wrestling match to all the fans. There were Angle Slams and Ankle Locks from Kurt Angle which were responded with Sweet Chin Music by Shawn Michaels. In the end, Shawn Michaels yielded to the longest Ankle Lock of Kurt Angle. However, no-one could have expected more from Shawn who gave his very best in that match.
3- Shawn Michaels vs Ric Flair (WrestleMania 24)
Nobody was expecting such a great performance from Ric Flair who at that time was appearing for his last WWE match. Ric had enjoyed a long and prosperous career but now it was coming to an end at WrestleMania 24. He had given some very good wrestling matches to his fans during the years of 2001-2008. Famous among them were the matches against The Undertaker, Randy Orton, and Triple H.
Shawn Michaels had fought him before at Bad Blood 2003. He had lost that match because Orton had struck him with a chair. Five years later, Shawn was facing an older Ric one more time, still, Ric gave him a very good fight.
After Shawn missed a moonsault, Ric displayed some of his wrestling maneuvers to take full advantage of the situation. However, Shawn Michael's Sweet Chin Music got him the victory in the end. The ending of that match was quite emotional as it was Ric's last match in the WWE. Even Shawn said " I'm sorry.....I love you" before delivering his final kick.
4- Shawn Michaels vs The Undertaker (WrestleMania 26)
Shawn Michaels faced Ric Flair at WrestleMania 24 in what was Ric's last match in the WWE. Two years later in the WrestleMania 26, it was Shawn Michaels who was possibly appearing for his last match in the ring.
This match between Shawn and The Undertaker is regarded as one of the best matches at WrestleMania. Both wrestlers fought with each other in the past providing the best entertainment to all their fans.
For The Undertaker, his WrestleMania streak was on the line while Shawn had put his whole career on the line. Therefore, both wrestlers were giving all their energies for winning this match.
In that match, there was Sweet Chin Music after Sweet Chin Music, Tombstone Pile Driver after Tombstone Pile Driver. Both gave the full display of their wrestling skills. In the end, The Undertaker prevailed and managed to keep his streak unbroken. Shawn Michaels retired after that but gave everyone a superb match before retiring.
5- Shawn Michaels vs Razor Ramon (WrestleMania 10)
Shawn Michaels faced Razor Ramon at WrestleMania 10 in what became one of the best ladder matches. Both the Intercontinental belts of Shawn and Ramon were on the line.
Ramon tried his Chokeslamming and suplexes which were responded with Michaels' superkick and piledriver. In the end, Ramon pushed Michaels off the ladder who fell into the ropes. As Michaels was tangled up, Ramon got the belts and hence won this match.
