Tonight on Raw, WWE will determine Brock Lesnar’s challenger for SummerSlam. While it’s possible Braun Strowman could also get involved, since he has the Money In The Bank contract in his possession, let’s concentrate on the two men involved in tonight’s bout and handicap who should come out on top.

In the case of Roman Reigns, he is clearly the company favorite. He has headlined many PPVs for WWE and has had multiple shots at Lesnar and has largely failed.
However, there is currently a storyline in play where Reigns should have been given the win, and The Universal Title, in their match at the Greatest Royal Rumble, which took place in April in Saudi Arabia. The stipulation in the match stated that the man whose feet hit the ground first after leaving the Steel Cage would be the winner. While Reigns was the man to do that the referee, in error, awarded the match to Lesnar, allowing him to keep the Championship.
Reigns has been referring to himself as the uncrowned champion ever since, with just cause. From that perspective, it would make sense to have him get a rematch at Lesnar.
The problem is that there is a large contingent of the fan base that does not like him and having him face Lesnar at WWE’s second biggest event of the year would ensure a bad reaction from the fan base. The only way that SummerSlam would go off the air with a positive reaction from the fans would be if Strowman immediately cashed in his contract. However, that would not fit into how Strowman’s character take the fight to his opponents head on.
On the other hand, Bobby Lashley is a fresh face to WWE fans. Like Lesnar, he has a legitimate MMA background and is seen as someone, in wrestling circles, on par with Lesnar from a perception standpoint. He is a very capable hand in the ring, having excellent matches for Impact Wrestling before returning to WWE earlier this year.
If WWE decides to go with Lashley, they will give fans a fresh, exciting match up for one of their biggest events of the year, and silence the fans that will boo Roman Reigns no matter what he does.
They would also open up a plethora of fresh matchups since Lashley hasn’t been back in the company all that long.
What will WWE decide to do? Only they know for sure but you can be sure that betting offers will see money spent on both sides of this epic encounter.
By the end of Raw tonight, we will know the answer.
