With WWE getting so much money from TV deals what would think of cutting back PPV to maybe 4-6 a year and making the tv shows more exciting with more title defenses and more gimmick matches?

WWE will keep making the TV shows as loaded as possible, since that is where the lion’s share of their revenue comes from, but they also want to keep the Network strong as well and they feel they need to do a big event or PPV every month to keep people subscribed.  So I don’t see a drastic cut back.  The best we can hope for is that they get more events like Saudi Arabia and Australia and that they can take some of the monthly event slots.

Why is Dave Meltzer so highly looked at as a credible reporter? Not knocking on the guy, I'm just curious why his opinion and how he views matches is more important anyone else's? Am I missing something?

Dave has been around a long time, over 30 years, and he has done good work, so he has earned the goodwill people have in from a reporting standpoint.  With that said, his view on matches aren’t any more important than a lot of other people that understand the business on the level that he does, like Mike Johnson or myself for example.  The bottom line is this, there is no specific criteria as to what makes a great match.  It’s subjective.  For example, some people only care about the actual work in the match.  The storyline means nothing to them.  For others, it the exact opposite.  Everyone’s opinion on matches is subjective.  No one’s is a stone cold fact.

Also, how is your criteria different from his when rating matches?  Do you use star ratings too?

I don’t know what his standards are but to me, the story that leads up to a match is a factor.  The story that is told in the match is important.  And obviously, the work itself is important as well.  As for star ratings, no I don’t use them.  I know a lot of people like them but I prefer to use words to describe what I think about a match.

ROH TV is broadcast on SBC channels, Honor Club, FITE TV and possibly elsewhere. Do you have an educated guess as to what their weekly viewership is?

Given that they are on so many local stations it would be really hard to get the accurate number since getting ratings from those markets is labor intensive.  So, no I would venture a guess.

Has ROH stopped making new DVDs for their events? I noticed on their site that they have no DVDs for the current year.  Do you know why this is?

I am on their site right now and they do have DVDs for sale from this year’s events.  On the page I see the 3/9 anniversary show, 3/3 Manhattan Mayhem and 2/9 from Concord, NC. But with that said, with the excellent value that Honor Club is, I don’t see any reason to push the DVD business.  Streaming is where things are today.  If you want to get those DVDs, here is the link: https://www.rohwrestling.com/shop/2018
