WWE provided an update on the injury to Raw star Ruby Riott this evening, announcing on their website that she has been diagnosed with a sprained medial collateral ligament following an MRI on her left knee yesterday. The MCL helps to stabilize the knee alongside other connective tissues, including the ACL and LCL.
WWE's announcement did not provide details on the severity of the sprain. Depending on the severity, Riott could be out 2-3 weeks to several months.
Riott last wrestled on the 6/29 Rapid City, North Dakota event, wrestling Dana Brooke, which is where she is believed to have suffered the injury. Riott was on crutches the last few days and did not appear live on last night's Raw broadcast.
Riott, 27 years old, signed with WWE in December 2016 for the NXT brand and debuted on the main roster within a year. She was shifted over to the Raw brand as part of the latest Superstar Shake-Up.
