WHY THE CHAMP MISSING TV IN 2018 IS DIFFERENT THAN IT WAS IN THE 80S, ROUSEY HITTING MEN, HHH’S DEAL AND MORE

For all the people who are upset that Lesnar and the Universal title aren't on TV every week, how is it any different from when Hogan was champion in the late 80's/early 90's?  You would rarely see Hogan or the belt on regular TV programs unless it was a special show such as a Saturday Night's Main Event, or to build up to a pay-per-view match.

It’s very different because back then, the goal of television was to draw people to house shows and PPVs. That is where they made their money.  Today, TV rights fees bring in more revenue than the next three things, WWE Network, Live Events and Merchandising, combined.  And, that is before the new TV deals start next October.  At that point, the discrepancy will be even greater.  WWE is a TV product first and foremost now.  That is the difference.

Love the site, keep up the great work. Curious to hear your thoughts on how Ronda Rousey is being used with regards to the male superstars. I think the majority of the audience knows of Rousey’s background in MMA, there’s no denying her toughness and physical ability and I completely agree in that she’s been really good in the ring given the short amount of time she’s been training. However, I’m not sure how I feel about her attacking Kurt Angle/other male superstars. You’ve touched upon the portrayal of men hitting women and vice versa in pro wrestling, I know Rousey is a one of a kind type of talent, how would you work in Rousey when it comes to her interactions with the male talent in the ring? On the one hand, I love the idea of having someone like a Chyna: a tough female wrestler that can hold her own in the ring with the male superstars but on the other hand, I don’t want Rousey to be portrayed as having one-sided beatdowns where she’s not getting her just desserts. Thoughts?

I really think that if she attacks a man, she needs to pay a stiff price, like being suspended.  Obviously, given WWE’s kid friendly approach they can’t have men hitting her so they need to be really, really careful in how they use her when it comes to interacting with men.

Is there a confirmed reason why Cass was fired, and why there was not a “We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors” included in the wwe.com news flash?

Well, WWE knows why they let him go.  We have heard it was behavior related and that the “good luck” message was not omitted by accident.

For years, there have debates about what were some of the best matches in wrestling history. Flair vs Steamboat, Rock vs Austin, and in recent years, Omega vs Okada, and Gargano vs Ciampa. Mike and Dave, what were some of the WORST matches in history in your opinion?

I am not big on picking “best” matches since it’s so subjective.  I don’t like to pick worst matches because it’s just too negative a thing to do in my opinion.  I don’t like to dwell on the negative.

I know the WWE wrestlers are considered to be "independent contractors/employees" instead of actual employees of the WWE.  When a person like Triple H, who I would assume given his current position with the company is an actual employee with taxes taken out of his check and health benefits offered etc etc, goes into the ring and wrestles be it at a PPV, house show, Raw, Smackdown, wherever, does he have a separate contract for those times so he is a "independent contractor/employee" when he wrestles and a "regular" employee the rest of the time?

He’s always a regular employee.  He also gets paid to wrestle, but it’s part of his full time employee deal.  He has one deal.
