I am a huge fan of the website and appreciate the hard work you guys do! My question is somewhat two. Besides being a fan of the website I'm a fan of the show South Park. Have you guys ever watched the episode where they mock WWE? If so, what was your opinion, and the opinion of WWE if anybody watched it?
I am a big South Park fan and I loved the episode, especially since they portrayed Vince McMahon as this uppity theatrical type wearing opera glasses. I thought South Park nailed the over the top theatrics of pro wrestling perfectly as well as the amateur vs. professional wrestling debate. It was a great episode. I don’t recall any feedback that I’ve ever heard from anyone within WWE about the episode, except that the company saw it as a compliment that they were being skewered.
For those of you who have never seen the episode, it is available at this link.
Whatever happened to Jimmy Powers? I used to like his audios on the site.
Powers discontinued the audios when he moved to Florida and underwent a hip replacement. He has an open invite to come back but he's been concentrating on his personal health of late.
With the whole ROH/MSG/WWE debate I wanted to ask about Smackdown being on FOX. It's my understanding it's not Fox Sports but the actual FOX channel. Here in Toronto we get ROH on FOX on Sundays will ROH stop airing by the time WWE comes to FOX? I do remember we used to get RAW and Nitro on TSN back in the day but not sure about today.
I think it remains to be seen, but if the FOX affiliates in your area are owned or operated by Sinclair Broadcast Group, I really, really doubt we’ll see ROH dropped as they are must-carry local programming as ordered by SBG.
Is Anthem still losing a boat load of money with Impact wrestling? I'm wondering if/when they will cut bait and sell the tape library to WWE.
I have yet to hear the company has turned things around financially, although new TV deals and Twitch have helped, as has all of the cost-cutting and high paying contracts being dropped. They don't even need to sell the library, since at this point, they are making money licensing footage to WWE.
What's your favorite venue you've ever seen pro wrestling in?
I really think the Allstate Arena is probably the best wrestling venue of all time in terms of atmosphere and environment. Madison Square Garden, the 2300 Arena and the Manhattan Center are personal favorites as well.
