TOP GOOGLE TIPS THAT WILL IMPROVE YOUR SEARCHES

By Jason Kendall on 2018-05-09 06:05:00

Google can be a powerful tool if you know how to use it wisely. The best part about it is the fact that it allows us to access information about almost anything. However, there are certain tricks that make Google searches even better.

Most people are not aware about these methods, but today we will share them all with you. If you want to make sure that you can find anything you want on Google try the techniques we described below.

Exclude key words

In some cases you might want to find out something about a topic, but Google will only show you results that include the key words that you mentioned. In order to avoid that you should use the “~” symbol. For example, if you google “romantic books” you will only get results that include this phrase. If you use “romantic ~books”, the results will be related to romantic literature and all the information you can get about it.

Similar websites

If you found a website that proved to be very useful and you would like to find more sites like that, Google is able to find some suggestions. All you need to do is type “related: [the address of the website]” in the search bar. Make sure that you don’t add a space between the words.

The asterisk

The asterisk is another symbol that can make your Google searches so much better. If you want to search for something but you can’t remember a key word, simply replace it with the “*”. Google will take that into account and the results should include the word that you can’t recall.

Forgetting multiple words

The asterisk is great for the situations when you can’t remember one word, or a small part of the phrase. However, if you forgot more than that, there is something else that you should do. Type the words you remember and then add “AROUND + the approx. number of words that you can’t remember”.

Reverse image search

People search is another thing that you can do on Google. However, not many people think about the reverse image search tool when they do this. If you have someone’s profile picture, there is a big chance that they also use this image for other accounts. Therefore, you can save it and then click the camera icon in Google Images search bar in order to upload it.

Time frame

If you want to find information about an event or a book written in a certain period of time, you can also add the time frame to your search. For example, if your search is limited to the 20th century you should add 1900…2000 to your search.

Find the exact phrase

If you are looking for a quote or a phrase that you want to find, you can make Google search for those words in the order that you typed them. In order to do that you will need to add quotation marks to your phrase.
