UPDATE ON THE KANSAS CITY JAYHAWKS

By Kendall Jenkins on 2018-04-05 07:07:00

Why were the Kansas City Jayhawks wearing Yeezy sneakers?

While the rest of us were having fun with the pokies New Zealand has to offer, the basketball team got congratulated for their premium performance this post-season during March Madness with a very special gift from Kanye West and Adidas!

After the team secured their spot in the Final Four game of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, or NCAA, Men’s Basketball Tournament, they were speechless when they got a sizable stack of Yeezy 500 sneakers, unreleased, enough to outfit the whole team!

The Jayhawks vs the Wildcats

The Jayhawks enthusiastically examined their cool new sports kicks à la Kanye West before they hit the court on Friday evening, although their new shoes didn’t manage to stop Villanova from emerging in the lead and landing the coveted Monday night Championship title game spot against the University of Michigan, which the Villanova Wildcats took too.

You Can Get the Shoes This Month

According to @theyeezymafia, the blush Yeezy 500 kicks are scheduled to hit stores on the 14th of April, and you will be able to get your pair then, for around US$200 -although this cost will likely rise once resellers get hold of them.

The Kansas Jayhawks Deserved a Prize

So did Kanye hope that Kansas was going to grab hold of the March Madness title thanks to their new shoes? Probably -but it’s likely that the players got the gifts for a different reason.

They are an important athletic program in the United States of America, and they outfit their athletes in Adidas apparel, most of which is available for online purchases, so it is more likely that the brand gave the team their new sneakers to thank them for all the positive publicity this postseason has gifted Adidas.

Player Predictions for the Jayhawks

In other news, it is unlikely that Malik Newman will return. Both parties, the University of Kansas and Newman himself, were brought together by the belief that he would sit out for a year, play a year, and then head to the world of professional basketball.

The breakout that Newman enjoyed late in the season has boosted his stock with the National Basketball Association, NBA, so the original arrangement will probably remain in place.

Although uncertain, it is unlikely that Lagerald Vick will be back. Vick should get attention from the NBA thanks to his athleticism, and fans should bear in mind that he remained a mystery for most of the year, for both the Jayhawks and coach Bill Self.

The good news is that the team will still have plenty of options for wing positions in 2019 even if Vick does hit the road, and there’s not an underdog in sight.

Udoka Azubuike is an unanswered question. It seems almost definite that he will declare himself for the NBA Draft without an agent to represent him, and the feedback he receives at the Combine will probably help him make his decision.

Azubuike is a interesting prospect, thanks to his size and ability to leap, but the fact that he struggles to shoot from outside the lane may well lead to him spending another year fine-tuning his game in Lawrence.
