People seem to be up in arms about the Sami Callihan incident, but I cannot see why. The cock-up was well known as soon as it had happened, so for Impact to not use it would have seemed strange. Also, I'm sure that they would have run it past Eddie beforehand. Is this the case, can talent refuse to have something done at a taping not shown?
Talents could always change their mind on something, but usually once something is taped, unless there was a big problem with the segment, it gets shown. I think the uproar of the Edwards situation happening is more because once people actually saw it, they realized how dangerous it truly was.
What do you think the future would have held for Magnum TA had he not had the accident? Do you think WWF would have gotten him eventually and would they have given him a new name/character?
He would have won the NWA title from Ric Flair. Whether that would have changed the tide of the pro wrestling war and kept Jim Crockett Promotions afloat, I don't know. I think eventually, WWE would have made him an offer. Chances are he would have kept the name if he arrived prior to 1991 when WWE loved to change established names and characters for incoming talent.
When CM Punk was leaving the WWE after his Money in the Bank title match against John Cena, was he given the title match before he told management he was leaving, or after? If it was the latter, why would the WWE put him in the title picture if he was going to be gone afterward? Was the WWE expecting to have things worked out? Was the WWE trying to give Punk an incentive to stay by giving him the title? And lastly, if I remember correctly, WWE and Punk worked things out the day of the PPV for Punk to stay. That would explain him even getting the title since he wasn't leaving. But was he under a new contract immediately? Why did they bring him back only months after he left?
Punk's deal expired the day before Money in the Bank and he signed a one day extension to work the PPV. He signed a new, official deal the day of the show. They brought him back weeks, not months, because, well, they needed a PPV main event. Givjng him the belt and showing him he was going to be a legitimate top name was certainly an incentive to stay.
Was the whole Matt Hardy, Edge, and Lita love triangle a work or shoot? It is my understanding that it was real, but turned into a work when the WWE made it into a storyline. And if I remember correctly, Matt Hardy was let go, then brought back when WWE made it a work. Was Hardy really let go at the time or was that a work too?
It was a legitimate situation that caused Hardy to get fired when he made it public and pushed the issue. WWE decided to bring him back before the end of his 90 days no-compete and created a feud based on the situation. At the time, Edge and Lita certainly got more out of it than Hardy did, but it was going to be a legitimate firing.
We talk about GFW's influence on Impact Wrestling yet on the WWE Network, ever since the GWF section got put up, all that's been in there is best of USWA (which ironically seems to be best of Jeff Jarrett) instead of actual GWF programming. Any word on when GWF programming will actually be available?
In asking, I am told there are no current plans for it to be added this year. Perhaps in 2019.
