In your opinion, do you think we’ll ever see another Wrestlemania in an smaller arena setting (other than perhaps an anniversary show at MSG), or has the event’s status permanently solidified itself as a lock for being held in a large stadium year after year?
There’s always a possibility that one day, WWE gets into a lull where they can’t sell the tickets to fill a stadium, but that seems like a rather remote possibility. They could always make the conscious decision to have Mania in a smaller venue, but I don’t see that happening, because it would making a decision to not make the most money possible.
Whatever happened to R-Truth?
Truth has been out of action after undergoing elbow surgery.
Do you think Billy Corgan’s purchase of the NWA is a bigger drain on his finances than he thought it would be, given the Smashing Pumpkins “reunion” tour seems to be something to just to make a quick buck?
I don’t think that would be the case. It’s not like he spent millions on the NWA or on the videos they have been producing. Corgan pretty much told me in an interview a few years ago that his investments into Impact Wrestling got him into a financial situation, but one would think that was resolved when he and Anthem came to a settlement that saw him get his investment returned. The Pumpkins tour is going to be a big financial boon for Corgan personally and one would think that can’t help but to help the NWA.
Let’s imagine something happens to Vince McMahon tonight and he is no longer able run WWE. What happens next? who takes over the business, creative etc. Vince is known to pretty much do everything in his company, so i’m interested as to you believe the plan would be should he not be there? And what would be the immediate reaction?
Remember there have been lots of shows that Vince McMahon wasn’t involved in and WWE got through them fine. The plan would be for Michelle Wilson and George Barrios to run the day to day of the business while Triple H and Stephanie McMahon would handle the creative and branding of the company. I think a lot of people will be shocked to hear this, but should and when something happens to Vince McMahon, the WWE machine will continue without a beat. It’s too massive a company at this point that it wouldn’t. I think people outside the company will be shocked and wonder how WWE will carry on, but Disney still moved on and grew even after the deaths of Walt and Roy Disney.
Secondly, during the steroid trial, I read that Pat Patterson was due to take Vince’s place, if Vince McMahon had been sent to prison. Was this true? Secondly was Patterson (or someone else) going to run WWE in its entirety or just creative, if so who would have run the business and lastly what do you believe would been the future of WWE and indeed professional wrestling would have been with Pat Patterson in charge?
The plan, should Vince McMahon have been found guilty, was for Pat Patterson and Jerry Jarrett to run the day to day of creative, but let's be serious. Vince McMahon would have certainly had his influence felt, no matter what, especially with Linda McMahon there.
