The word backstage at Raw last night was that Bret Hart, who was the WWF champion when Raw debuted in January 1993, had already been locked into a follow-up medical exam for his hand, which he has been having problems with since undergoing a wrist surgery last year, by the time WWE reached out to invite him to Raw 25.
For those who asked, WWE did want him at the show and Hart would have liked to have been there, but there was no feasible way for him to have his exam and then travel to Raw and given the issues he has had with his hand (one person last night told me Hart cannot even draw anymore, and he was always a great artist), that was where his priority was.
As someone who has had multiple surgeries on my hand since crushing it in a car wreck in 2001, I totally understand where Hart stands on this one.
