The Biggest of Them All: The Top 5 Tallest Wrestlers Ever to Set Foot in the Ring

The world of professional wrestling has quite a few big names and big athletes - and "big" in this case should be taken literally. After all, standing tall is a feature that can be put to good use in the ring. But some athletes stand out of the crowd not only by their performance but their stature, too. These are veritable giants that made a name for themselves in and outside of the ring, and not only because of their height - even though this is their most outstanding feature.

5. Kane, Big Cass and Big Show - 7' (tied)

It seems that a height of seven feet is not a very rare feature in professional wrestling. There are currently three big names with such a stature in WWE - Kane, Big Cass, and Big Show. Needless to say, the times when these towering athletes meet in the ring are quite interesting.

4. The Great Khali - 7'1''

The Great Khali, born Dalip Singh Rana, is the eighth tallest wrestler ever to set foot in the ring, and the fourth tallest currently active - sort-of. After leaving WWE in 2014, he returned to his native land and opened his own wrestling school. He briefly returned to WWE as a villain assisting Jinder Mahal, helping him retain his title in a Punjabi Prison match for the WWE Championship.

Before joining the WWE, The Great Kali was a cop.

3. Giant Silva - 7'2''

Giant Silva, born Paulo César da Silva, was a professional basketball player before signing with the WWE in 1998. Standing 7 feet 2, he surely was an impressive athlete to play ball - but his performance in the ring, both as a WWE wrestler and in the Pride Fighting Championships MMA competition, made him stand out of the crowd. He is the sixth tallest professional wrestler ever to compete in history.

2. Andre the Giant - 7'4''

Andre the Giant, born André René Roussimoff, was one of the most outstanding athletes of the WWE, whose memory is preserved by his role in the fantasy movie "The Princess Bride", a video slot machine available at https://www.alljackpotscasino.com/, and numerous wrestling-themed video games, including WWE2K18. His stature was the result of a condition known as gigantism.

1. Giant Gonzales - 8'

Giant Gonzales, born Jorge González, was the absolute tallest wrestler ever. Before turning to wrestling, he was a professional basketball player for the Argentine national team before being drafted by NBA team Atlanta Hawks. Unfortunately, his basketball career was ended by a knee injury. He became a professional wrestler for the WCW in 1989 and stayed with the promotion until 1992, followed by a year of competing in WWF. In 1994, Giant Gonzales moved on to Japanese promotions NJPW and WAR (Wrestle and Romance) where he stayed until his retirement from wrestling in 1995 due to health issues. He passed away in his hometown San Martin, Argentina, at the age of 44.
