WWE released a ten minute video today featuring Renee Young sitting down with Mike and Maria Kanellis discussing his painkiller addiction, its origins, his decision to come forward and get clean as well as show that the addiction can happen to anyone by being open about his personal battles.
Mike noted the origin of the addiction was a broken rib that he suffered right before a New Japan tour, one that he couldn't afford to miss and didn't want to cause his partner (Matt Taven, who was not named) to lose money, so he asked his doctor for something to get through the tour and things spiraled from there.
During the interview, the idea that he didn't look like a typical "addict" in terms of what people assume an addict would look like and how Maria and her own family were stunned when they learned what was happening. It's a good interview:
