Congratulations to Taz and his team at The Taz Show as they celebrated their 400th live broadcast via CBS Sports Radio and Play.it. The show will be available later today via video and audio on demand at www.TazShow.com. As a matter of full disclosure, I was on today's show and appear every Tuesday morning on the show with "The PWInsider Report."
I am organizing a bus trip to the 8/5 CZW "Once in A Lifetime" event in Voorhees, NJ main evented by Japanese legend Atsushi Onita vs. Father Matt Tremont in a no ropes barbed wire explosion match. The trip will leave from NYC with stops in Queens and Manhattan. If anyone is interested, email me at MikeJohnsonPWInsider.com@gmail.com. We should have pricing locked down in the next few days.
Wildkat Sports drew in the 300-350 range for their debut at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia. It was a solid show. Luke Hawx was very happy with the debut and intends to run the venue again down the line, perhaps as a once a year special attraction. Stevie Richards, who is a heel in Wildkat when they run in New Orleans, retained his Wildkat championship against Hawx in the main event. Since they were in Philly, Richards came out to the "Rocky" theme dressed in red white and blue, like Apollo Creed in the films. Richards KO'd Hawx on his feet with a hard slap early on. Hawx returned the favor by knocking Richards cold later on. Both were OK in the locker room after. Matt Lancie defeated J. Spade in a very good match. Homicide won a three-way over LSG and Mike Dell. Blk Jeez won a very good four way that was all action involving Papadon, Joker and Bestia 666. Crowbar defeated Bu Ku Dao in the opener. That was not the original finish but Dao missed his moment to kick out during a false finish and the referee counted three, so rather than have an awkward moment, they went with it. Socoro captured the promotion's Revolution championship. The Monster Factory had a number of their talents on the show and provided logistical support to Wildkat. Ruby Raze, who works on the West Coast, was also brought in for the show, as was MCW's Renee Michelle. Joel Gertner, who does commentary for the promotion, was also at the event. Nick Gage and Nick Berk were visiting. ZZ Loupe, of Tough Enough fame worked as part of a pre-show tag. The show was taped for the promotion's TV series on MyNetworkTV WUPL in New Orleans.
CZW returns to Voorhees, NJ on 7/8 headlined by Davey Richards defending the CZW championship against Shane Strickland, Lio Rush, and Joe Gacy in a four way and CZW Wire champion Maxwell Jason Freidman vs. Trevor Lee.
The Legends of the Ring convention over the weekend was a turnaway sellout in Monroe, NJ. They have already announced a 10/21 return date.
PWX in North Carolina will have their 7/8 event on Concord carried over Flosports. The show will be headlined by Anthony Henry vs. Ethan Case in a Best of Three Falls bout and features a very interesting Timothy Thatcher vs. John Skyler match. Several EVOLVE regulars will be on the show as they are doing a double header with EVOLVE, including Jason Kincaid and Fred Yehi.
Paul Jordan sent the following...."Nobody Speak: The Trials of the Free Press", the documentary based around the Hulk Hogan-Gawker Trial will debut on Netflix June 23rd.
