WWE NXT star Tommaso Ciampa suffered what appeared to be an injury to his ankle or foot during a match at tonight's NXT event in Highland Heights, Kentucky.
About three or four minutes into a tag match with DIY taking on Sanity, Ciampa came off the apron with a flying knee, but appeared to land wrong and rolled his ankle when he hit the floor. Ciampa was unable to place any weight on the leg, leading to the match to be immediately stopped as he was rushed to the back.
PWInsider.com is working on confirming additional details. WWE has not officially commented on Ciampa's status as of this writing.
Ciampa and his partner Johnny Gargano are slated to challenge WWE NXT Tag Team champions The Authors of Pain in a ladder match on Saturday's NXT Takeover: Chicago event.
