The WWE and pro wrestling scene have always been surrounded by controversies. If you take a closer look at the company, however, you will see a lot of positive movements and empowering acts. WWE is a company that gives back to community in many ways.
These activities need to be recognized. On top of that, we need more wrestling fans contributing to these social movements and helping communities around them. In this article, we are going to focus more on the community programs and how you can contribute.
Be a Star
Be a Star is one of the most prominent community programs we’ve seen from WWE. It is an anti-bullying initiative designed to promote respect through education and grassroots initiatives. There have been a lot of success stories and activities promoted by the Be a Star program.
There are also many organizations, noted as alliance members, that are supporting this movement. Bullying is still a big problem for our children and the Be a Star movement help kids be more respectful to their friends. On top of that, the program is also helping children learn how to deal with bullying the right way.
A lot of wrestling fans who are working in communities are already supporting this movement. Some even go as far as pursuing a masters in social work online in order to acquire the skills to be better community leaders. Thanks to top universities such as Rutgers Online and their online MSW programs, it is now possible for everyone to pursue a degree and learn about social work.
Be a Star Alliance
We’ve mentioned alliance members of Be a Star, a group of organizations who are supporting the anti-bullying movement. There is also a bigger movement driven by athletes, stars, actors and organizations to further spread this movement. The Be a Star alliance currently has 58 organizations across the country, from the National Education Association Health Information Network (NEA HIN) to STOMP Out Bullying.
Also known as the S.T.A.R. Alliance, this program is also supported by top names such as Kris Allen, Joe Bautista, Tim Daly, Chris Daughtry, The Creative Coalition and Train. These prominent names, along with other stars from various fields, are campaigning to end bullying in schools and other areas.
There are a lot of activities at local schools and communities that you can join. You can be a volunteer and help organize these events. You also have the chance to donate to the movement or be part of the organization helping kids deal with the effects of bullying.
Boys & Girls Clubs of America
The Boys & Girls Clubs of America is not a WWE community program, but the organization has been collaborating with the WWE and its pro wrestlers in helping boys and girls achieve their dreams. While the main theme of this collaboration is a campaign against bullying, the company is also contributing so much to various other programs.
Contributing to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America is just as easy. You can also find your club and get children involved in a lot of exciting, enriching activities. The goal is to help kids grow to become the productive, caring and responsive citizens that they aspire to be.
