Pro wrestlers – if you see them outside of the ring, it’s usually because they’re doing something controversial and news-worthy. With some pro wrestlers going even crazier outside of the ring than they are when they’re in it, it’s no surprise that they’ve earned themselves a bit of a name for going off the rails. But, craziness aside, what do these guys do when they’re not competing or drawing attention to themselves? From fitness habits to hobbies, here’s what some of the world’s most famous wrestlers get up to when they’re not on your TV screen.
Gaming
Gaming is a firm favourite amongst many sportspeople and athletes when it comes to winding down and having fun, and pro wrestlers are certainly no different. A number of pro wrestlers have gaming rooms at home where they’ll go to chill out when they’re not following their gruelling training routine. Gaming is a great way to wind down, whichever console is your favourite. And, pro wrestlers don’t just play wrestling games, either – football, racing and shooting games are certainly popular. Along with that, many pro wrestlers enjoy playing online casino games when outside the ring in a bid to turn their winnings into even more. With online casino and bingo games widely available, they certainly have a lot to choose from.
Meal Preparation
Welcome to one of the most boring yet possibly the most essential parts of the life of a pro wrestler. Yes, pro wrestlers tend to spend more time in the kitchen than you could possibly imagine. To keep themselves in the best shape possible for their competitions, it’s vital to not only get their physical training right, but also the nutrition. For many pro wrestlers, counting macros and beefing up with as much lean protein as possible is a hugely important part of their life. Since the majority of pro wrestlers are also dedicated bodybuilders, you’ll find them spending a huge portion of their time in their kitchens, preparing or helping to prepare their meals for the week ahead. Even if they have a nutritionist, many pro wrestlers like to stay hands-on with their health.
Training
For all those wins and successes in the ring, you can bet that there has been a hell of a lot of intense training beforehand. Pro wrestlers spend more time in the gym than almost anybody else, lifting weights and carrying out exercises to build strength and muscle. You might also find a pro wrestler training in the boxing ring, as this helps them to build a number of skills up that can benefit them in their professional wrestling career. But, strength is definitely the most important part, with wrestlers knowing exactly how important it is to be able to overpower their opponent. You’ll definitely find them working out – with or without a personal trainer – for at least six days of the week.
In order to be good in the ring, professional wrestlers need to do a lot outside the ring! Training, eating right and taking the time to relax are all hugely important to their performance.
