THE EMOTIONAL APEX OF WRESTLEMANIA 42 WEEKEND HAS ALREADY BEEN REACHED, LOOKING AT WWE & FANATICS MAKE-A-WISH EVENT AT WWE WORLD

In a week defined by spectacle, scale and showmanship, Wrestlemania’s most meaningful moment unfolded far from the ring yesterday for the most worthy of competitors.

As part of a special WrestleMania 42 wish experience, WWE and Fanatics teamed up with Make-A-Wish to create a once-in-a-lifetime activation for 27 children in Las Vegas, each having their wish granted to attend WWE’s biggest event of the year. The initiative is part of Fanatics’ role as the official sports partner of Make-A-Wish and coincides with World Wish Month, a global effort to raise awareness for the organization’s mission of delivering life-changing experiences to children battling critical illnesses.

The multi-day experience began at WWE World, the WrestleMania fan festival operated by Fanatics Events.  While there are tons of engagements with WWE talents, exhibits and obviously, a lot of merchandise, but it was in the Las Vegas Convention Center that the kids became the show and honestly, no matter what happens on Saturday and Sunday at the Wrestlemania main events, the emotion will pale in comparison to that activation.

At the center of the activation were the “Superstar Entrances”, a fully produced and personalized WWE moment designed to mirror the grandeur of a WrestleMania walkout for each child.   With all of their famiies watching on and cheering, each child received personalize Titantron graphics, a character name and made their way down the aisle to WWE theme sings as they received a custom live ring introduction from WWE ring announcer Lilian Garcia.

Waiting at the end of the aisle as these kids showed their swagger and strength were WWE's The Miz and Liv Morgan, who surprised participants and shared in their moment before gifting them a customized WWE Championship belt.  From the first second of the first entrance, as someone who's been at the last 25 Wrestlemania weekends that were open to the public, this easily became my favorite moment - a moment where each of these kids, for a few needed moments, morphed into their own superheroes, ready to battle in the ring, embuing themselves and everyone around them with incredible strength.  Spiritually and emotionally, I can't imagine a greater, more uplifting moment than what I witnessed yesterday at WWE World.

The experience for the children extended beyond the stage. Fanatics provided each child with a customized WWE championship title belt, Topps trading cards, and a private shopping experience at the WWE World Superstore, complete with a $200 spree to pick out their favorite gear.

For the 27 participants, the largest group ever hosted for a WrestleMania Make-A-Wish activation (a number larger than the most recent NFL Super Bowl weekend activation for Make-A-Wish), the day was designed not just as an event, but as an immersive transformation into WWE Superstars.

“It’s about putting smiles on people’s faces,” The Miz told PWInsider.com and other collected media. “And this, this right here. is my favorite thing that we do.”

Despite bemoaning that no one picked his theme song and that he heard countless Cody Rhodes choices, Miz was an incredible participant, hamming it up with all of the families and telling the children that their strength gives him strength to continue to battle on in life.

For Liv Morgan, the impact of the experience was immediate.

“We had 27 Make-A-Wish kids here today, which is our most ever,” she commented. “To see them all battling through their issues and showing up here smiling, happy, confident, determined… their energy literally filled this room. You can’t help but be inspired.”

That energy was evident throughout the day. Kids channeled their favorite WWE talent, Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, CM Punk (but no Miz, poor Miz) complete with signature poses, entrances and crowd reactions. The production details were precise, but the emotion was organic.

In speaking to media after the event, The Miz offered guidance rooted in his own experience.

“I always tell people: be yourself, dial it up to 100, and live in the moment,” he said. “Even I still get nervous. But you use that and turn it into energy—and you saw these kids do exactly that.”

For Payton, a participant taking part from Seattle alongside his family, the moment hit instantly.

“It was pretty fun,” Payton said. “I didn’t realize what music I would have, and then it hit, and I just snapped into it.”

A devoted fan, Payton was already looking ahead to WrestleMania itself.

“I’m really excited for the Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi match,” he said. “I think that’ll be like Godzilla versus King Kong.”  For the record, he's calling Oba.

Clad in a CM Punk shirt, Payton also had strong opinions on one of WWE’s most rumored entrances this year regarding which theme song the WWE World Heavyweight Champion may choose.

“I like ‘Cult of Personality,’ but I also like ‘This Fire Burns,’ so whichever one [CM Punk] uses, I don’t really care,” he added.

But beyond the entrances, merchandise and Superstar interactions, the experience carried a deeper meaning.

“I really love my family, so I’m glad they got to go with me,” Payton said. “They endure watching it with me pretty much every day, so I’m happy that they’re here.”

That sense of shared experience is central to Make-A-Wish’s mission. The organization aims to create moments that provide not just joy, but tangible emotional strength for children facing serious illnesses, something WWE and Fanatics leaned into throughout the activation.

“Getting to connect with the WWE Universe and the communities we’re in, that’s what’s really important,” Morgan told PWInsider.com. “Any imprint we can leave behind by inspiring people, making them smile, that’s what WWE is all about.”

For The Miz, the perspective gained from the day is lasting.

“It shows the absolute strength of a child,” he said. “Seeing them go out there, own the stage, and just shine, that’s what this is all about.”

As WrestleMania prepares to take over Allegiant Stadium, the collaboration between WWE, Fanatics and Make-A-Wish underscored a different kind of main event, and what should be the true main event, moments measured not in wins or titles, but in impact.

For one day in Las Vegas, 27 kids didn’t just attend WrestleMania, they became the heart and soul of what professional wrestling is supposed to be for everyone, that surreal piece of escapism that provides you solace and escape from the real world, so the fantasy realm can inspire and uplift you.  Each of those children, which their heart and energy and passion, certainly uplifted the hell out of me and everyone else blessed to be there in this moment.

Fanatics intends to keep that energy moving with a Summerslam activation and beyond.
