Vice News, in reporting today about the NDAs Vince McMahon entered into with a number of women, including Janel Grant, who is now suing McMahon, John Laurinaitis and WWE, stated that according to a person familiar with the matter, "McMahon secretly had the NDAs drafted and entered into them without WWE’s knowledge—which is why, when the company became aware of his hush money payments, it had to issue revised earning statements."
The article was focused on whether the NDAs were actually enforceable and featured quotes from Carrie Goldberg, a lawyer who represented victims of Harvey Weinstein, who referred to the NDAs are "poorly drafted", citing that the overall broadness of the NDA Janel Grant signed. That NDA was filed as an exhibit in the lawsuit against McMahon, etc.
The article notes that longtime WWE and McMahon attorney Jerry McDevitt wrote the NDAs. McDevitt did not respond to Vice's request for comment.
