Turnbuckle Championship Wrestling, the promotion originally founded and run by the late Dusty Rhodes in the early 2000s is being relaunched next month with Rhodes' daughter Teil and QT Marshall as the point people involved. The promotion will run its first event on 2/8 in the Atlanta, GA area at Cody Rhodes' Nightmare Factory school in McDonough.
The original incarnation of TCW was created by Dusty Rhodes after he left WCW with the idea of presenting old school Southern style wrestling playing to markets where Jim Crockett Promotions and Championship Wrestling from Florida had success. Rhodes at the time was trying to provide a training ground for talents trying to find themselves and get experience while also giving talents displaced by the end of WCW and ECW a place to wrestle when the business contracted in early 2001 with the demise of those promotions. Among those who worked the original run of the company beyond Dusty were Glacier, Barry Windham, Steve Corino, Dustin Rhodes, Tommy Dreamer, Scott Hall, The Public Enemy, Ron Reiss, Sonny Siaki, New Jack, Bobby Eaton, Ray Gordy, Erik Watts, CW Anderson and many others.
The original TCW shuttered in 2003 when Rhodes took over the role of booker for TNA. After that run, he signed with WWE and remained associated with that promotion as a major part of the WWE NXT and Performance Center process until his passing in June 2015.
