WHAT WILL CHANGE FOR 'LIVE' VIEWING OF THE WWE NETWORK WHEN IT ARRIVES ON PEACOCK, THE FATE OF 205 LIVE & MORE PEACOCK QUESTIONS ANSWERED

By Mike Johnson on 2021-03-09 09:52:00

Since WWE and Peacock issued their official press release outlining the migration of the WWE Network onto the NBCU streaming service here in the United States, a great number of readers have asked specific questions about different aspects of WWE programming under the Peacock umbrella.

While some aspects are obviously in flux as the two sides work out the integration, here are some confirmed answers to some of the questions we have received.

Will I be able to pause or rewind live programming such as Wrestlemania and other PPV events?

That feature will not be available at launch on Peacock.  However, we are told that the streaming service is working on adding that ability with the hope that it would be roll out this summer around Summerslam.  It is absolutely something Peacock has been working on and will continue to prepare to roll out.

How will I find WWE on Peacock?  How will I be available to watch everything now?

WWE will be listed as one of the options on Peacock's browse menu.  Some content will be free but to watch everything you will need to be a subscriber to Peacock Premium, the same way you would have needed to sub to the WWE Network to see all of their content.  There is a discounted deal for WWE Network subscribers who are new to Peacock Premium priced at $9.99 for four months at this link.

Will there be a searchable feature for specific matches or segments?

We are told that feature has been discussed but will not be available at launch.   If you want to watch, say Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels from Wrestlemania 25, you will need to pick the show and then fast forward to that specific bout.   That may change as they get deeper into the rollout and tweak/evolve Peacock.

Will 205 Live and NXT UK remain air on Peacock?

PWInsider.com has confirmed 205 Live will continue to air with a premiere on Fridays followed by VOD viewing of the episodes on Peacock Premium.

There is no confirmation yet on NXT UK.  Stay tuned.

Will everything actually move to the WWE Network?

The plan is 100% yes to this.  We are told that WWE is already preparing all of the currently available VOD content on the Network for migration to Peacock, but it will not happen with one flip of a switch and it won't all happen before 4/4 when the currently available version of the WWE Network in the United States departs.  Every PPV and every TV show will not be there on launch day, but eventually, it will all be there.

What if Peacock isn't available on my preferred streaming device?

This question has come from Samsung Smart TV owners and Amazon Fire device users.  We are told Peacock is still negotiating with different providers but obviously, there's no timetable on if or when they will come to terms nor would anyone in active negotiations advise on such things.  Until then, it may be time to invest in one of the cheaper Roku options or prepare to watch on your computer.

What if I want to stay on the current WWE Network?

As of 4/4, that version of the WWE Network will be shut down in the United States.  It is not an option as it no longer be functional.

We will update as we get additional confirmations.
