WHAT TNA NEEDED FOR TV GOING FORWARD, KURT ANGLE-TNA STATUS, SPIKETV REFLECTIONS, UK TOUR, NYC AND MORE: COMPLETE TNA PRESIDENT DIXIE CARTER DISCUSSING PAST & FUTURE OF TNA INTERVIEW RECAP

By Mike Johnson on 2014-12-03 17:32:45

Borash talks about how the roster has really gotten behind the Destination America move and asked Carter to give us background. Carter said it was "obviously a smaller channel." Carter said that if you look at it from an "apples to apples" perspective, you would think she was crazy with the loss of potential homes. She said that the Network is part of Discovery Communications. She said Destination America is one of their top priorities right now and it's one of the five fastest growing cable networks. She said this is a global deal, not a U.S. TV deal and they have just begun to scratch the surface.

Carter said this will lead to new markets for the company globally that they have never been in before and it's a massive deal and there's a lot that is featured.

Carter said there will be some other TNA programming and there will be announcements on that and "how they will program Impact." She said this is bigger than just having Impact on one Network and "if we are a success, there is no bigger deal than we could have done."

Carter said their goal is to make Destination America a household name and deliver that to Discovery and be partners with them on every level.

Borash said the UK and India are their biggest international markets. Borash discussed the signing of Mahabali Shera. Carter said that when people really hear his story, "you could not write a movie script that would encompass what happened to this young man." She described him as a humble and smart young man and is excited to give him a chance to pay it forward to others in India. Carter said they have a ton of fans there and they have had success there and they are going to be rolling out some news soon for that market.

Borash brought up the success of the second season of British Bootcamp in the UK. The finale will air this Sunday. Carter said she has a big decision to make and ratings have doubled this year. Carter said hopefully there will be a third season since they have so many great talents and so many great ideas for the show. Carter said last year, she went in assuming someone else was going to win and after a few episodes, Rockstar Spud grabbed her attention. She said he's worked his butt off and "I love that kid." Carter said there isn't one standout this year and there are some big decisions to be made.

Borash said all six finalists have been added to the UK tour and that TNA will be taping six episodes of Impact (so 2 episodes per event) during the tour. Borash said the tour always shapes up to be a big event. Carter said she wanted to make sure that the scheduling allowed them to film there and she's happy they will be able to. She said the Bootcamp kids are making their mark so they are going to have them out there when the doors open. She wants TNA to be a party from the time you walk in to when you leave.

Borash asked her what we can look forward to at the first show in NYC. Carter said she's happy to go back to NYC although the last time she was there she was carted out. Borash asked how her back was and she said, "I guess because it's wrestling, I guess people don't realize I really did break my back in three places." Carter said she loves the Manhattan Center venue because it's so up close and personal and they have some big things planned as well as some surprises. There will be some things announced in just the next few days. Carter said some will be on her Twitter and some will be announced in other ways. Carter said they have a lot of things coming up.
