PWINSIDER Q&A: TONYA HARDING'S WRESTLING APPEARANCES, RAWMANIA?, THE ROCK AT MANIA XXV AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2009-03-29 10:00:00

On a recent TNA Impact! Samoa Joe faced Abdul Bashir. Does this mean that the Bashir/Shane Sewell feud is over or just temporarily put on the back burner for now? Does Sewell return to his duties as a referee in the mean time while Bashir goes on and faces other opponents as well?

It means none of the above. Chances are TNA didn't think about any of the factors you mentioned at all and were just booking that one week of television. I don't believe Shane Sewell is that important of a character that TNA was worrying about how the Joe vs. Bashir bout would change his storylines.

I grew up watching wrestling. A fan most of my life. I was such a fan of "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes. In his prime, he was an incredible wrestler. A fiery competitor. One of the most popular stars in wrestling. He was known for his elbow smash. He used his right elbow as a very effective weapon. We was so well known for it that he was accused of having an object implanted in his right elbow for maximum effect. I know it wasn't true. A myth. A fabrication. To your knowledge, did anyone actually believe that? That story? Has Mr. Rhodes ever been asked about that

I don't believe anyone believed it.

I was wondering if Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) was contacted to be part of WM25 ? I am not asking him to come back to wrestle, but just where it is the 25th anniversary of WM. It would be nice to see him do a little scenario. Your thoughts. Thanks again.

I haven't heard if WWE attempted to bring in Dwayne Johnson, but it wasn't going to happen. Johnson has moved on and is in another part of his life now. I don't think he'll be back until WWE asks him to accept a Hall of Fame induction.

I read where WWE has scheduled another three hour Raw special in a few months. What do you think of WWE turning it into a smaller version of Wrestlemania? Call it Rawmania. For three hours, matches for the WWE World Title, the Women's championship, tag team championship, US Title plus current and new storylines. Would such a show be possible?

Anything is possible in wrestling, but my guess is the June Raw will likely be based around a King of The Ring themed show.

Would you know if WWE had any interest in signing Tonya Harding to a contract? She was the former Olympic skating champion who, along with two men, assaulted her rival Nancy Kerrigan many years ago? She became very infamous because of it. I read where she appeared at ringside at a match in Japan. She took part in celebrity boxing once. Lost, I believe.

I've never heard of any interest in Tonya Harding by WWE, although she did appear on a Portland independent show as a manager once for the late Art Barr (that is the show you are thinking of). She was rumored to have been interested in training to wrestle in Japan at some point. That obviously never came to fruition.
