Some early WWE notes ahead of the 2/19 Elimination Chamber PPV in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia at the Jeddah Superdome:
Everyone working the event has been informed that masks are required at all times backstage except for when on camera. We are also told that social distancing has been requested as well as it is the norm still in Saudi Arabia. Since the show is inside an indoor stadium this time, they are being extra cautious for all the obvious reasons.
Due to social distancing in the seating, the event is slated to have only 15,000-20,000 fans live in the 35,000 seat stadium. We are told that the show is already sold out minus any seats that are released following production being finalized over the next day or so.
Last night, everyone from the company who had traveled to the country were invited to take part in a very over the top lush event at the Jeddah Yacht Club on the Red Sea with what was described as a "traditional" dinner followed by live music and dancing. Those there, including even Bill Goldberg, joined in the dance portion of the evening and were gifted clothing and Oud, a fragrance, at the end of the event. There was traditional Saudi music as well as modern music played during the event.
We are told that those who have been to Jeddah previously have noticed a big change in it from early WWE trips, with one describing the city as more gentrified and that it looks more like a city from the West/United States than ever before, minus public drinking/bars, etc.
One talent noted that since they've arrived, everyone locally has "bent over backwards" for the WWE contingent.
Dominik Mysterio is there, so expect him to appear on the PPV alongside Rey Mysterio vs. The Miz.
Baron Corbin is also there to appear in Madcap Moss' corner vs. Drew McIntyre.
Titus O'Neil was brought over to represent the company.
MVP is not in for the show, so Bobby Lashley will be alone at the Elimination Chamber PPV.
Producers over for the event include Adam Pearce, Shawn Daivari, Shane Helms, Chris Park aka Abyss and Jamie Noble.
For those who have asked, The Undertaker has not been seen and is not believed to be there.
Vince McMahon is expected to be at the event.
Michael Hayes and John Lauirinaitis are already in Saudi Arabia.
