VIN DIESEL TRYING TO WOO THE ROCK BACK TO 'FAST & FURIOUS' FRANCHISE

By Mike Johnson on 2021-11-08 08:20:00

Actor and Producer Vin Diesel tossed a line out to The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, via social media, attempting to woo Johnson back to the Fast & Furious film franchise for the purported final tenth film in the franchise.

Diesel wrote:

"My little brother Dwayne... the time has come. The world awaits the finale of Fast 10. As you know, my children refer to you as Uncle Dwayne in my house. There is not a holiday that goes by that they and you don’t send well wishes... but the time has come. Legacy awaits.  I told you years ago that I was going to fulfill my promise to Pablo. I swore that we would reach and manifest the best Fast in the finale that is 10! I say this out of love but you must show up, do not leave the franchise idle you have a very important role to play. Hobbs can’t be played by no other. I hope that you rise to the occasion and fulfill your destiny."

Johnson and Diesel did not get along during their time working on the films to the point that Johnson has made it clear he has zero interest in returning to the franchise, which he helped reinvigorate when he joined the cast to play Luke Hobbs in the sixth film in the franchise.  Johnson reprised the film in the seventh film and then in a spinoff featuring his and Jason Statham's characters.

Diesel commented over the summer that he gave Rock "tough love" during their time on the set.  Johnson responded publicly that Diesel's claims made him "laugh hard" and wished everyone on the films well as he wouldn't be returning.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Johnson opened up about the issues with Vin Diesel on set, noting he wouldn't agree to come back for the film's eigth installment unless he and Diesel never appeared in the same scenes.  Johnson did not return for that film.  On his issues, Johnson said, "It caused a firestorm. Yet interestingly enough…[it was] as if every single crew member found their way to me and either quietly thanked me or sent me a note. But, yeah, it wasn’t my best day, sharing that. I shouldn’t have shared that. Because at the end of the day, that goes against my DNA. I don’t share things like that. And I take care of that kind of bullsh** away from the public. They don’t need to know that. That’s why I say it wasn’t my best day."

While Johnson stated he regretted the issues became public, he wasn't walking back his side of the issues and explained that when he and Diesel sat down, "Well, there was a meeting. I wouldn’t call it a peaceful meeting. I would call it a meeting of clarity. He and I had a good chat in my trailer, and it was out of that chat that it really became just crystal clear that we are two separate ends of the spectrum. And agreed to leave it there."

Next up for Johnson will be Netlix's Red Notice, which begins streaming later this week after a limited theatrical release.
