Scott D’Amore, while speaking to PWInsider.com following the AAA press conference last week in Madison Square Garden, said the current hope is to find a new TV home for Impact on a larger platform by this Fall. If and when that happens, secondary Impact programming will pop up on Pursuit Channel (think Xplosion, etc) with the mothership series being placed elsewhere. Impact owner Anthem has a big ownership stake in Pursuit.
There has been a push of late to spend more money on marketing and promoting the company as they've had more money coming in.
Impact will be taping a Salute to the Troops event for Twitch.TV this Friday 4/12 at Fort Campbell Army Post in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, free for all military personnel and their families as well as those with a Department of Defense ID card. The show is being put together in conjunction with Tried-N-True Pro Wrestling, which is run by Crimson. Scheduled for the event are Johnny Impact, X-Division Champion Rich Swann, plus Brian Cage, Moose, Sami Callihan, Eli Drake, Madison Rayne and Kiera Hogan. Sami Callihan was pulled from AAW this Friday in Chicago to work the event as well.
The belief among those we’ve spoken with is that Impact will pursue a breach of contract claim against Eli Drake, which would likely prevent him from signing elsewhere contractually until the situation is resolved. Impact terminated Drake’s contract officially on 4/7, just a few weeks before it was set to expire on 5/31, upset over public statements he had made about the company. Some in the company believed Drake was AEW-bound.
The current plan is for Impact Champion Johnny Impact to appear on the 9/15 AAA event in New York City. If he is still champion, he would be the first ever Impact Champion to appear in the hallowed halls of Madison Square Garden.
This week’s Impact on Pursuit features Johnny Impact & Taya vs. Brian Cage & Jordynne Grace, the debut of Josh Alexander and Ethan Page as a new tag team, The North (it’s about time they figured something out for Page), Su Yung vs. Rosemary and Moose vs. Zachary Wentz.
Impact will tape a One Night Only PPV this Saturday 4/13 in conjunction with Kentucky’s UCW in Owensboro featuring OVE vs. Chase Stevens and The Maddox Brothers, Rich Swann defending the X-Division Championship against Scott Sexton, Impact Champion Johnny Impact defending against Chris Michaels, The Rascalz vs. The Murphy Boyz and more. PWInsider.com is seeking live reports.
The Impact Homecoming PPV has been added to the GWN app for VOD streaming.
