WWE NXT star and former ROH champion Adam Cole was legitimately busted open last night at the WWE NXT event in Austin, Texas during a six man tag between The Undisputed Era and Sanity. Cody Walper, who was sitting ringside, noted, "They set up a spot on the floor literally right in front of me where Bobby Fish, Kyle O'Reilly and Cole all got sent into each other head-first by Ssanity and it sounded like a soda busting in a freezer. Cole bled heavily and got pulled to the back to get cleaned up. The rest of the guys did an awesome job buying time until Cole came back out (never once breaking character) and continued the match."
The Undispted Era scored the win.
PWInsider.com has confirmed with several sources that Cole required several staples to close the wound. One source believed it may have been as many as seven.
He is scheduled to challenge Drew McIntyre tonight in San Antonio for the NXT championship then work the three-way War Games match Saturday night at the Takeover: Wargames special from Houston, Texas, airing live on the WWE Network.
