The AOP came back and got the tag from The Revival and went to work on Ciampa.
Ciampa was able to reach the Revival for the tag and I bet you can guess what they did. They begged off. But they did come in and DDT Akam so Ciampa could get a two. They want the big guys out too, they just want to do it their way. That is what makes them The Revival, and awesome.
During the time I took to write that, all hell broke loose and the fans chanted NXT. And they are right. I love NXT. Johnny hit a DDT on Dawson and got a two. The fans chanted for him as Dawson rolled out. AOP came back and slammed Dawson into the ring and caught Johnny as he tried to dive on them and they literally threw him at the other opponents. It was awesome. Great stuff from AOP. AOP went to work on Johnny after that and got a near fall. Johnny, as always, kept fighting back. Akam put him in the Torture Rack and shook him. He walked around with him on his back for a minute or two. Johnny tried to hang in there as Ciampa came back. Johnny got out and hit the enzigiri but Johnny got out. Dawson hit Akam with a chair and Ciampa got the tag and went to work. It took a while but he got the big man down and hit a couple of Germans! Then the running knee but two count only. Ciampa kept working on Akam but then went to do a Sunset Powerbomb through the table on Rezar. He stopped him. Johnny came over. He stopped that. Finally the Revival came in and blasted Rezar in the head and he went through the table. It was a thing of beauty. It really was.
This left all four to work on Akam but the big man made his own save. He went for the powerbomb on Ciampa and Dash finally made the save and tagged in. Dawson locked Akam in the Figure Four and Johnny came in like what should I do. Instead of attacking Akan, he put on a crossfire. Rezar finally came back and made the save. The story of the two smaller teams, who hate each other but will still work together, is awesome. Totally awesome. The fans agree.
The challengers again teamed up to work on Rezar. Amazing sequence as one guy from each team paired up with the other to do their finishers. Amazing. And then, DIY and Revival squared off. But as the AOP got up on the floor, Dash and Johnny stopped fighting and did topes on both AOP. I can’t believe anything else I see this weekend will be better than this. If it is, cool.
With the other four on the floor, Dawson superplexed Ciampa onto all of them on the floor. DAMN!
When the mess cleared, the AOP came in and hit The Last Chapter on Ciampa. Fans booed. They shouldn’t have. Don’t boo the AOP people. These guys are part of the match, a big part. They chanted Bulls***. Ugh. It sure doesn’t sound like they are giving the AOP heel heat.
This left Revival vs. AOP. The fans chanted Delete. Have fun at Raw Monday Vince, your worst nightmare is in Orlando.
Dawson hit a suplex for a two on Rezar. The fans will go nuts if AOP wins. And not in a good way it seems.
They traded near falls. AOP hit double powerbombs. Akam was in with Dawson. Scott was selling like he was out but used that to roll up for a two. AOP went into power mode on both guys. They did the Super Collider and got the win.
This was an awesome match, totally awesome. I just tuned out the booing fans. From a storyline perspective, this was fantastic. The AOP keeps getting better and you know what? Whoever beats them will mean something. The fans wanted the Russo booking here. I am glad that HHH and his team didn’t go to that school.
Asuka vs. Ember Moon for the NXT Women’s Title is up now. The challenger came out first with a cool entrance. The champ came out next, wearing her Title belt. The fans chanted that Asuka’s gonna kill her. The new NXT Women’s belt has a big X in it. I wonder if the Owl will call about that. The belt looks great, like it isn’t “just for a woman”.
The crowd was split early on as the two women felt each other out. Asuka feigned a handshake but left Ember hanging so Ember showed her what she could do in response.
Asuka then got control and went to work beating on Ember, but she kept fighting back, finally face planting Asuka. But Asuka hit the flying butt. Ember got her to the floor and hit the jumping splash from the second rope to Asuka on the floor. Ember was going for the Eclipse and Asuka jumped up and went nuts, hitting a Shining Wizard to get control again. She followed with a ton of kicks. She went for the Asuka lock but didn’t have it so she took her to the ground and locked on a choke. Ember thought of tapping but didn’t. She started going down to the choke but she powered back up and did a backdrop to break the hold.
When Asuka got up she went for the Hip Attack but missed an while she was caught in the ropes Ember kicked her. Asuka went on the attack but Ember hit a head scissors and then ate some kicks and knees, and then a FallAway slam. Ember hit a handspring elbow in the corner but Asuka hit a sick German on the second rope. They are slaying each other, trading near falls. This is STIFF!
Ember went up to try for the Eclipse but it was too soon. Asuka stopped her but got thrown down. As Ember went for the Eclipse Asuka threw the official into the ropes and Ember came crashing down. Asuka used that to pin Ember.
This was the farthest that Asuka has been extended so the finish made perfect sense for her. She is a heel, that’s what she does. Both women were awesome here. Ember kicked ass and has every reason to get more matches and eventually win. Outstanding match to continue a great show.
YES! Drew McIntyre is in the crowd. YES! The crowd is happy, and so am I. Stu and I will have to add NXT to our show so his Drew can come and visit!
The main event is up next!
And now for one of my favorite moments in wrestling, the entrance of Shinsuke Nakamura. I will miss that if they don’t let him do it when he gets called up to the main roster (come on Smackdown).
And after that, we had two piano players banging the keys for the Glorious entrance of Bobby Roode. And there is your Champion, Bobby Roode. I respect the hell out of everything that Vince McMahon has accomplished but the wrestling fan in me seriously can’t wait until Paul Levesque takes over.
