WWE Hall of Famer Adam "Edge" Copeland suffered a torn triceps over the course of taping his match with Randy Orton that will air on tonight's Backlash PPV. A triceps tear, depending on the severity, could mean that Copeland is out 4-8 months. The match was taped several weeks back and there had been an attempt to keep the injury quiet until it could be worked into company storylines. Fightful was the first to report the injury.
The Backlash match was Copeland's first official "wrestling match" after returning at the 2020 Royal Rumble and competing in a Last Man Standing bout at Wrestlemania 36. Copeland signed a new multi-year deal with WWE after he was cleared to return to the ring after a nine year retirement brought about when he was medically disqualified from competing due to a neck injury.
