I was really disappointed to see that big of a viewership drop for the 3rd hour. I was hoping that Bryan's retirement was going to see the largest audience spike in some time. What do you attribute it to? Lack of interest for Bryan or falloff from the RAW product? It's hard to imagine its the former because of the huge social media response on Monday afternoon. He was the top trending topic on many platforms.
I really think what it comes down to is three hours for Raw is just way too long for some people. After sitting through three hours of an average show, Bryan's speech was the victim of people tuning out and/or going to bed. A lot of people DVR'd it and watched it the next day.
Regarding the Undertaker’s opponent at WrestleMania… considering the long standing feud with The Wyatt’s, The Wyatt’s recent decimation of Kane, their current feud with Brock and Brock’s history with Taker, plus Vince McMahon’s need to have Taker work Braun Strowman… wouldn’t make sense to have Undertaker team with Brock Lesnar to face The Wyatt Family in a 2 on 4 Handicap Match? It doesn’t seem like much of a stretch to have Undertaker assist Brock out of mutual respect to finally drive a nail in the Wyatt Family coffin once and for all. Thoughts?
I have thrown out that idea myself (though I would rather it be Brock and Roman Reigns against the Wyatts with Dean Ambrose beating HHH at Mania). Brock could bring in the man he "respects the most" to help him take out the Wyatts. They could absolutely do that.
With Axl Rotten's death, it appears to me that the original ECW have a high death too for a company of a relative small size. Is it possible that the general lifestyle associated with the company (compared to other promotions of the same period) may have contributed in a certain way to a lot a wrestlers deaths at a really young age? Am I totally out of it? Just a short list (of course, some didn't spent much time there, so it should't count...): Axl Rotten, Brian Pillman, Eddie Gilbert, Doug Furnas, Big Dick Dudley, Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Louie Spicolli, Chris Candido, Mike Awesome, Hack Meyers, Bam Bam Bigelow, Beef Wellington, Johnny Grunge, Rocco Rock, John Kronus, Terry Gordy, Gran Naniwa, Gary Albright, Mike Bell, Dino Casanova, Chris Duffy, , Pittbul #2, Road Warrior Hawk, Chris Kanyon, Crash Holly, Mike Lozansky, Jerry Tuite...
I think you made your own point with "some didn't spend much time there". I really think the death rate is more of an indictment of the time period that just ECW. The 90s were a time of harder, unchecked living. It's understandable that would lead to a higher mortality rate.
Correct me if I am wrong but wasn’t Justin Credible (then Aldo Montoya) part of the Kliq?
He was kind of like a pledge, not a full fledged member. To put in TNA Aces and Eights vernacular, he was trying to get his Cut.
I’m sure I am not the only one who felt like starting a huge “Bulls***” chant when Vince paid tribute to Daniel Bryan and then again when he hugged him on stage at the end of Raw. Vinnie never recognized the asset DB was when he had him on the active roster, but, now, he has so much good to say. That type of disingenuousness really bothers me. Thoughts?
I think that sometimes fans can't see the big picture. While it's true that Vince McMahon didn't see Bryan as a main event champion, he did respect and like him as a worker. They are two very different things. Vince genuinely likes him. Just because he didn't see him as a main eventer doesn't mean he hated him. It just means he didn't fit in with Vince's vision.
