1/11 NEW JAPAN PRO WRESTLING 'NEW BEGINNING' OSAKA COVERAGE: OKADA DEFENDS THE GOLD, TWO TITLE CHANGES, OMEGA MAKES A STATEMENT & BUSHI GETS READY FOR KUSHIDA

Welcome to the PWInsider.com live coverage of the New Japan Pro Wrestling “New Beginning: Osaka” event from the Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium in Osaka, Japan.

Match #1 - David Finlay vs. Jay White

The match begins with Finlay taking down White and riding him on the ground, they get back up and Finlay starts working over the arm of White. White gains control and he focuses on the arm of Finlay as well, White locks Finlay in a modified surf board while bending his wrist at an awkward direction. The competitors lock up and battle for position along the ropes, Finlay then catches a running White with a standing drop kick. Finlay then slams White to the canvas to get a near fall, Finlay slows things down further by locking White in a chin lock and attacking him with forearm smashes.

Finlay then locks White in the camel clutch and White gets to the ropes to break it up, White tries fighting back and he finally drops Finlay with a drop kick. White lays out Finlay with a pair of forearm smashes and a back elbow strike, White then crushes Finlay with a running European uppercut and a suplex. White gets to the top rope before catching Finlay with a missile drop kick for a near fall, White looks for a Boston crab and Finlay kicks him away. Finlay nearly gets a three count with a roll up on White, Finlay then drops a charging White with a leaping elbow strike.

Finlay then hits White with a European uppercut and Finlay roll for a near fall, Finlay then applies the Boston crab to White and White gets to the ropes to break it. The wrestlers both stand up and exchange strikes, Finlay eventually drops White with a drop kick. White counters a Finlay avalanche dive by locking him in a single leg Boston crab and a tap out follows.

Winner: Jay White

Match #2 - Chaos (Yoshi-Hashi, Gedo & Kazushi Sakuraba) vs. Jushin “Thunder” Liger, Tiger Mask IV & Ryusuke Taguchi

The bout kicks off with Liger and Sakuraba doing some chain wrestling, Liger gains control until both guys start trying for submissions on the other. Liger takes Sakuraba down and he quickly for the surfboard on Sakuraba until the rest of Chaos interferes, Sakuraba gains control on Liger and he locks him in the chin lock. Sakuraba stands up Liger to attack him with kicks until Gedo gets the tag, Gedo drops Liger before raking his eyes with his shoes. Yoshi-Hashi tags in and he mauls Liger with strikes in the Chaos corner, Yoshi-Hashi drapes Liger across the top rope before connecting with a drop kick. Yoshi-Hashi nails Liger with an elbow before Liger catches him with a tilt-a-whirl back breaker, Mask IV tags in and he takes out all three members of Chaos.

Mask IV brings Yoshi-Hashi into the corner before kicking him in the head, Mask IV trips up Yoshi-Hashi before nailing him with a tiger driver for a near fall. Yoshi-Hashi regains control for his team after catching Mask IV with a slam into a reverse DDT, Gedo and Taguchi tag in to brawl with each other. Taguchi starts catching Gedo with all of his hip striking offense, Sakuraba comes in and Taguchi works him and Gedo over with hip strikes. Yoshi-Hashi comes in and he slows up Taguchi with an atomic drop and clothes line, Gedo hits a kneeling Taguchi with a super kick for a near fall. Taguchi recovers and locks Gedo in the ankle lock to force a tap out.

Winners: Jushin “Thunder” Liger, Tiger Mask IV & Ryusuke Taguchi

Match #3 - Hiroyoshi Tenzan & Satoshi Kojima vs. Yuji Nagata & Manabu Nakanishi

The bout begins with Nakanishi and Tenzan having a test of strength that seemingly ends in a tie, Tenzan then attempts to knock down Nakanishi with shoulder tackles and he fails to drop him. Tenzan then weakens Nakanishi with some head butts, but Nakanishi recovers to drop Tenzan with a shoulder block. Tenzan quickly pops back up and he drops Nakanishi with a few double chops to the shoulders, Kojima and Nagata tag in and they face off. Nagata and Kojima both look for the early advantage by working over the others arm, Nagata gets Kojima to the mat and he starts stretching his leg. Kojima gets up and he backs Nagata into the ropes before the two have a violent forearm strike exchange, Nagata then drops a charging Kojima with a knee lift.

Nakanishi tags in and he works with Nagata to hit Kojima with a double shoulder tackle, Nakanishi then takes the opportunity to attack Kojima with stomps and chops. Nagata tags back in and he focuses on the arm of Kojima before applying a crippler crossface, Tenzan attempts to interfere and he gets tossed right out of the ring. Nakanishi tags back in and he resorts to just attack Kojima with more chops and stomps, Nagata gets the tag again and he attacks Tenzan with a running boot. Nagata then returns to Kojima and he attacks him with a ton of kicks, Kojima finally slows Nagata down by catching him with a DDT. Tenzan gets the tag and he cleans house on both of his opponents, Tenzan then hits Nagata with a running clothes line in the corner before landing a suplex.

Nagata catches Tenzan with a big boot, but Tenzan quickly recovers to hit Nagata with an overhead release suplex. Nagata recovers quickly to hit Tenzan with a spin kick to the head, Nakanishi tags back in and he works over Tenzan with some forearm strikes and a short arm clothesline. Nakanishi then catches Tenzan with a lariat for a near fall, Tenzan then drops a charging Nakanishi with a spin kick to the face. Kojima tags back in and he nails Nakanishi with a series of chops in the corner, Kojima then hits Nakanishi with a running forearm strike. Nagata tags back in and he catches Kojima with a running knee strike, Nakanishi and Nagata double team Kojima with to straight strikes to the head.

Nakanishi locks Kojima in a torture rack and Nagata locks Tenzan in an arm bar, but both men eventually break free. Nakanishi then catches Kojima with a torture rack bomb for a near fall, Tenzan tosses Nagata into the safety rail while he was outside the ring. Kojima and Tenzan catch Nakanishi with a double team maneuver for a near fall, Kojima then hits Nakanishi with a lariat for the three count.

Winners: Satoshi Kojima & Hiroshi Tenzan

Before the next match can begin, Tetsuya Naito comes over to the announce position and he attacks the color commentator.

Match #4 - Kushida, Michael Elgin & Juice Robinson vs. Los Ingobernables (Tetsuya Naito, Evil & Bushi)

This bout kicks off with Kushida and Bushi locking up, Bushi breaks away from Kushida and he decides to taunt him for a little while. Bushi eventually uses his shirt to choke Kushida, Kushida quickly regains control by catching Bushi with a series of drop kicks. Naito interferes and he attacks Kushida on the arena floor as he was chasing Bushi around, Naito eventually attacks everybody on the opposition. Evil joins in as well and he attacks Kushida until he tosses him into the ring, Bushi then takes advantage of a hurt Kushida to lock him in the STF. Naito tags in and he momentarily works over Kushida until he tags in Evil, Evil then hits Kushida with a side slam followed by a senton bomb for a near fall.

Evil takes out the opposition again as Naito hits the ring to attack Kushida, Naito stays in the ring and he continues attacking Kushida. Kushida starts fighting back and he finally drops Naito with a handspring elbow strike, Elgin gets the tag and he clobbers Naito with a top rope diving shoulder tackle. Elgin then hits Naito and Evil with some German suplexes, Elgin gets a hold of Bushi and he just power press slams him to the canvas below. Elgin then picks up both Naito and Evil simultaneously before slamming both at the same time, Naito escapes the sit out power bomb before catching Elgin with a flying forearm strike.

Evil and Robinson tag in, Robinson qucikly drops Evil with a leg lartiat and a running clothes line. Robinson puts Evil in the corner before catching him with an avalanche, Robinson then hits Evil with a supelx for a near fall. Robinson goes to the top rope and Naito trips him up to cause him to crash to the mat below, Kushida comes in and Bushi quickly dumps him on the arena floor. Bushi then catches Kushida with a suicide dive, Evil hits Robinson with a lariat followed by the STO for the three count.

Winners: Los Ingobernables

After the match, Los Ingobernables attempt to attack Kushida and Michael Elgin breaks things up.

Match #5 - NEVER Openweight Six Man Tag Team Title Match  - Toru Yano & The Briscoe Brothers (Mark & Jay) (Champions) vs. Bullet Club (Bad Luck Fale, Toma Tonga & Yujiro Takahashi)

This bout kicks off with a huge brawl breaking out amongst all six competitors, Yano tosses Fale into the barricade on the arena floor. The Briscoes then hit Takahashi and Tonga with a series of double team maneuvers, Fale tags in and Yano follows suit for his team. Yano starts pulling all of his silly tactics on Fale and the Bullet Club eventually pull some on him as well, Yano removes the turnbuckle pad and Fale nearly runs into an exposed turnbuckle. It does not take long for another all out brawl to erupt outside of the ring between all six competitors, Fale and Yano remain the legal men when the action returns to the ring. Fale catches Yano in a camel clutch and he only releases it to tag Tonga into the ring, Tonga then catches Yano with a headbutt for a near fall.

Takahashi tags in and he starts choking Yano with his foot in the corner, Takahashi then proceeds to catch Yano with a running drop kick for a near fall. Yano tries fighting back and all three Bullet Club members attack him, Yano eventually sends a charging Fale into the exposed turnbuckle before taking out the rest of Bullet Club. Mark tags in and he catches Takahashi with a diving chop to the head, Mark tricks Takahashi with redneck kung fu before nailing him with an exploder suplex. The Briscoes double team Takahashi before getting a near fall on him, Takahashi lands a few forearm strikes and Mark counters with a Finlay roll.

Mark goes for the froggy-bow and Takahashi counters by getting his knees up, Yano and Tonga both tag in and go to work on each other. Tonga eventually drops Yano with a running drop kick, Yano recovers by slingshotting Tonga into the turnbuckles. All the Bullet Club members hit the ring and attack Yano with triple team maneuvers after taking the Briscoes out as well, Tonga then hits an interfering Mark with a headbutt. Jay comes in and works Tonga over, the Briscoes go for the doomsday device and Takahashi interferes to put a halt to that. Yano escapes a double team to low blow both Fale and Takahashi, Tonga low blows Yano from behind and catches him with a DDT to score the three count.

Winners: Bullet Club, your new NEVER Openweight Six Man Tag Team Champions

-Intermission-

Match #6 - IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Title Match - The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) w/Cody Hall (Champions) vs. ReDragon (Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly) vs. Matt Sydal & Ricochet

This match begins with Ricochet and Matt starting things off, the two go through a series of reversals while working over the others arms. Ricochet drop kicks Matt out of the ring and Hall interferes as he goes fore the dive, O’Reilly comes in and he attacks Ricochet with a series of strikes that ends with a jumping knee to the face. Fish tags in and he clobbers Ricochet with a series of knee strikes, Fish then hits Ricochet with a springboards swanton bomb for a near fall. O’Reilly tags back in and Ricochet catches him with an inzaguri, Sydal gets the tag and he double teams O’Reilly with Ricochet.

O’Reilly fights back against both Ricochet and Stydal until Matt tags himself in, eventually the majority of the competitors start doing dives to the arena floor. Matt and Sydal wind up being the legal men and Matt attacks Sydal with some punches, Matt traps Sydal in the Bucks corner while stomping all over him. Nick tags in and he rakes the eyes on Sydal with his boots, Nick decides to focus his attack on the arm of Sydal while taunting Ricochet. Matt tags back in and he attacks the injured arm of Sydal with a top rope axe handle drop, Nick tags in again and the Brucks nails Sydal with a neck breaker into a back breaker.

Sydal starts fighting back by catching Nick with a series of kicks, Sydal then takes out both Bucks with a DDT/flat liner combination. Hall interferes again as Sydal looked to tag in Ricochet, Fish tags in Sydal and he works over both of the Bucks. ReDragon hits the ring together and they attack Matt with a series of double team maneuvers, Ricochet comes in as well and he attacks both Bucks as well. ReDragon then attack Ricochet and Ricochet fights back by causing Fish to accidentally DDT O’Reilly, Ricochet and Sydal then start working over Matt with a double shooting star press/moonsault combination. ReDragon then take out Sydal and Ricochet with a series of double team moves, O’Reilly gets a near fall on Ricochet after an assisted German suplex.

ReDragon both go to the top rope and miss their diving headbutts, the Bucks go up and go for their 630 splashes and ReDragon gets their knees up. Ricochet and Sydal follow with double shooting star presses and ReDragon gets out of the way, Fish and Nick battle on the top rope and O’Reilly soon meets both up there. Sydal and Matt show up as well and we get a tower of doom spot, Ricochet appears out of nowhere to splash Nick for a near fall. Sydal then catches Matt with a series of knee strikes before missing a top rope hurricarana badly, the Bucks then power bomb Sydal directly into Ricochet. Matt then holds both Ricochet and Sydal on the ropes as Nick lands the swanton bomb for a near fall, O’Reilly returns to the ring and he attacks both of the Bucks.

O’Reilly then causes Nick to accidentally super kick Matt, Hall interferes again by grabbing O’Reilly and carrying him back to the locker room. The Bucks then hit Sydal with a double super kick and a Meltzer Driver for the near fall, the Bucks then go for More bang For Your Buck and Ricochet interferes to block the move from happening. Ricochet and Sydal catch the Bucks with double shooting star presses to get the three count.

Winners: Ricochet & Matt Sydal, your new IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions

Match #7 - NEVER Openweight Title Match - Katsuyori Shibata (Champion) vs. Tomohiro Ishii

This bout starts off with the competitors locking up and battling along the ropes, the two then start exchanging some forearm strikes. The two then stand in the center of the ring and just beat the crap out of each other with more forearm strikes, Ishii goes down after Shibata snap mares him and then kicks him right in the back, Shibata then catches Ishii with a series of suplexes and Ishii returns the favor with some suplexes of his own. Ishii changes up his plans by bringing Shibata to the corner before assaulting him with a plethora of strikes, Ishii then hits Shibata with a running clothesline in the corner.Ishii waits for Shibata to sit up by kicking him in the head and chopping him multiple times, Ishii brings Shibata back into the corner before hitting him with multiple boot scrapes and more forearm strikes.

Shibata gets up as Ishii and he go through another forearm strike exchange, Shibata then brings Ishii into the corner to work him over with boot scrapes to the face. Shibata then starts nailing Ishii with running boots to the face, Shibata changes his attack by nailing a downed Ishii with some running drop kicks. Shibata then hits Ishii with a suplex to get the first near fall of the match, Shibata then starts attacking Ishii with running boots to the face. Ishii responds by nailing Shibata with some running clotheslines as well, Ishii eventually drops a charging Shibata with a lariat after eating more boots to the face.

Ishii follows up by placing Shibata on the top rope and then hitting him with a superplex for a two count, Ishii then power bombs Shibata for a two count as Shibata counters into the triangle choke. Ishii starts fading and gets a boot on the ropes to break the submission attempt, Ishii stands back up and Shibata attacks him with some more forearm strikes. Shibata decides to plant Ishii with a death valley driver and a German suplex, Shibata then catches Ishii with another big boot to the face for another near fall. Shibata changes plans again by locking Ishii in a rear naked choke, Ishii breaks it by grabbing the ropes and then he just crushes Shibata with a clothesline.

The two competitors meet in the center of the ring and exchange a plethora of forearm strikes until Shibata goes down, Ishii then clobbers Shibata with a lariat and German suplex. Ishii catches Shibata with another lariat for a near fall, Ishii avoids a Shibata spinning back fist to hit him with a headbutt and another clothesline for a near fall. Ishii looks for a suplex and Shibata counters with an arm bar that is then transitioned into a triangle choke, Shibata transitions back into the arm bar and Ishii gets to the ropes to break it up again. Shibata waits for Ishii to get to his knees before attacking him with a bunch of kicks, Shibata then clobbers Ishii with a spinning back fist after eating a back elbow strike.

Shibata goes for the soccer kick and Ishii blocks it, but then Ishii eats a drop kick from Shibata afterwards. Shibata goes for the rear naked choke and Ishii quickly escapes before assaulting him with a ton of forearm strikes, Ishii misses a strike and Shibata locks in the rear naked choke. Shibata releases the choke and destroys Ishii with a soccer kcik to get the three count.

Winner: Katsuyori Shibata, still your NEVER Openweight Champion

Match #8 - Hiroshi Tanahashi, Tamoaki Homna & Togi Makabe vs. Bullet Club (Karl Anderson, Doc Gallows & Kenny Omega) w/The Young Bucks

This bout kicks off with Makabe locking Gallows in the headlock and then the two have a shoulder block contest that Makabe wins, Gallows mauls Makabe before tagging Anderson in. Makabe gets out of the corner and he tags Homna into the match, Anderson quickly attacks Homna and Homna eventually drops him with a clothesline. Homna goes for the headbutt and Anderson gets out of the way, Anderson then goes for the senton and Homna gets out of the way. Omega and Tanahashi tag in and they face off inside of the ring, Gallows interferes and that gives Omega the opportunity to work over Tanahashi.

Tanahashi eventually fights back by catching Omega with a back body drop, Tanahashi then hits Omega with a springboard high cross body. Bullet Club interferes again and Omega throws Tanahashi shoulder first into the ring post, Omega follows Tanahashi out of the ring and a brawl breaks out between all six competitors. Omega finds a broomstick and he breaks it over the back on Tanahashi before throwing him back into the ring, Omega continues to work over the injured arm and shoulder of Tanahashi. Anderson tags in and he drops some knees on the injured arm of Tanahashi, Anderson removes the knee pad before dropping another knee on Tanahashi.

Anderson wrenches on the arm of Tanahashi before Tanahashi can get to the ropes, Gallows tags in and he punishes the hurt arm of Tanahashi as well. Tanahashi tries fighting back and Gallows catches him with a few punches, Gallows misses an elbow drop and that gives Tanahashi time to tag makabe into the match. Makabe cleans house on all the members of Bullet Club, Makabe then drops Gallows with a clothesline for the near fall, Homna comes in and he teams with Makabe to hit Gallows with a double clothesline. Anderson drags Homna out of the ring and Gallows connects with a big boot to Makabe. Omega and Tanahashi tag back in and they go at it with Tanahashi coming out on top, Tanahashi goes to the middle rope and Omega brings him back to the canvas, Tanahashi recovers by nailing Omega with a dragon screw leg whip.

Tanahashi then catches Omega with the sling blade before going to the top rope, Tanahashi goes for the frog splash and Omega gets out of the way. Omega then crushes Tanahashi with a shoulder breaker for the near fall, Tanahashi eventually manages to tag Homna in and Homna goes to work on Omega by landing his patented headbutts. Homna then catches Omega with the blockbuster for another near fall, Omega then cracks Homna with an inzaguri and moonsault after avoiding a suplex. Omega then hits Homna with a sit out power bomb for the next near fall, the other four competitors in the match are brawling on the arena floor.

Omega and Homna exchange a ton of forearm strikes in the center of the ring, Homna then levels Omega with a clothesline and a diving headbutt for a near fall. Homna misses his next diving headbutt attempt, all three Bullet Club members attack Homna with a bunch of triple team maneuvers. The Bullet Club nail Homna with a three man splash to get another near fall, Homna tries fighting back and he gets overwhelmed by his opponents. Homna fights back again by catching everybody with diving headbutts, Anderson then hits Homna with the Stun Gun. Anderson and Gallows then hit Makabe with the Magic Killer, Omega then catches Tanahashi with a reverse hurricarana. Omega hits Homna with the Omega Driver to get the three count.

Winners: Bullet Club

After the match, all the members of Bullet Club attack Hiroshi Tanahashi with a steel chair and a garbage can. Omega even does a frog spalsh onto a garbage can that was placed on the injured shoulder of Tanahashi.

Main Event - IWGP Heavyweight Title Match - Kazuchika Okada (Champion) vs. Hirooki Goto

The main event begins with Okada trying to work over the arm of Goto and Goto doing the same to him, Goto drops Okada and holds him in the chin lock. Goto switches to a headlock to control Okada on the ground, Okada eventually gets to the ropes to separate and Goto mauls him with strikes. Goto follows Okada out of the ring, but Okada beats him back in and catches him with an inzaguri to knock him to the arena floor. Okada brings Goto back into the ring to hit him with a springboard swanton bomb, Okada slows things down by locking Goto in the neck tie until Goto is able to reach the ropes. Goto recovers and he nails a running Okada with a clothesline, Okada rolls out of the ring after Goto smashes the back of his head into the turnbuckles.

Goto follows Okada out of the ring and he tosses him into the barricades a few times, Goto tosses Okada back into the ring before catching him with a top rope elbow drop. Goto brings Okada to the corner before nailing him with a plethora of forearm strikes, Okada fights back by landing some forearm strikes of his own. Goto regains control quickly after dropping Okada with a shoulder tackle, Goto slows things down by holding Okada in the chin lock. Okada tries fighting back and Goto drops him with a kick to the head for a near fall, Goto continues the attack on Okada by dropping him with a suplex.

Goto brings Okada back to the corner to assault him with more forearm strikes, Okada misses the running avalanche in the corner. Okada recovers quickly by hitting the charging Goto with a flapjack, Okada starts hitting Goto with some running forearm strikes. Okada throws Goto in the corner before landing a hip attack and a DDT, Okada catches Goto with a clothesline for a near fall. Goto forces Okada to leap off the top rope before nailing him with a running clothesline, Goto waits for Okada to stand before catching him with a series of kicks. Goto then clobbers Okada with a suplex for a two count, Goto goes for his finisher and he hits Okada with a hair pull into a back breaker instead for a near fall.

Okada catches a charging Goto and he nails him with a emerald fusion back breaker, the two competitors stand up and exchange some forearm strikes. Okada then hits Goto with a European uppercut and a modified neck breaker for a near fall, Okada then decides to just attack a seated Goto with a trio of running drop kicks for another near fall. Okada goes to the top rope and he catches Goto with a missile drop kick for a two count, Okada goes back to the top rope and he nails Goto with a top rope elbow drop. Okada goes for the Rainmaker and Goto counters by locking him in an arm bar, Okada breaks the hold by catching Goto in a roll up.

Goto recovers quickly to nail Okada with his finisher before reapplying the arm bar to him, Okada struggles for a long time before finally reaching the ropes to break the hold. Goto continues to beat up Okada by just kicking on him while he is down, Goto then then hits Okada with a fireman’s carry into a bulldog for another near fall. Okada retreats to the corner and Goto nails him with a running clothesline before placing him on the top rope, Goto follows Okada up there to attack him with forearm strikes. Goto then catches Okada with his finisher from the top rope for a near fall, Goto hits the suplex into the side effect for another two count.

Goto goes for another suplex and Okada counters by nailing him with the Rainmaker, both men stumble to their knees and exchange forearm strikes in the center of the ring. Okada makes it to his feet first and he attacks Goto with European uppercuts, Okada sets up for another Rainmaker and he nails Goto with a German suplex and a drop kick instead. Goto then counters the Rainmaker by catching Okada with some headbutts, Okada eventually counters Goto and hits him with a trio of Rainmakers to get the three count.
