Here are full results from NXT Live in Cocoa Beach, FL on January 15, 2016
Your hosts for the evening are Tom Phillips and Alex Reyes
- Hugo Knox def. Angelo Dawkins - Dawkins was back to working heel tonight. It's a much more natural fit for him. Taunting and trash talking is his biggest strength. The match itself was a decent, fun opener. Knox got the win with a top rope cross body block. He was using a split legged moonsault until tonight. He's had some trouble hitting it clean at times, so I wonder if they're using this instead.
- Steve Cutler def. Alexander Wolfe - Another decent, if unspectacular match. Wolfe has new ring entrance gear. With a top hat and a giant coat, he looks like a cross between the Mad Hatter (from Alice in Wonderland) and a Civil War re-enactor. It was a decent technical match.
- Tom Phillips came out for an interview. Last night he had out the male Tough Enough winner, Bronson Mathews, and tonight was bringing out the female winner, Sara Lee. Sara came out and cut a short heel promo about how she wasn't going to be nice this year. In 2015, she won Tough Enough and in 2016, she would win matches. It was decent. She seemed nervous at times and feels miscast as a heel right now. It's the second night in a row that the Tough Enough winners struggled in promos. Oh, and on her way down the steps, Sara Lee tripped and nearly fell. A tough way to end a segment.
- Tino Sabbatelli and Riddick Moss def. Rich Swann and Tucker Knight. - This was a surprisingly fun match. None of the four looked out of place in the ring. Tucker Knight is slowly evolving into a decent big man worker. I'm excited to see where all four of these guys end up as the year progresses.
- Manny Andrade def. Oscar Vasquez - This was the match of the night. Manny Andrade is the former La Sombra. These guys had a hard hitting match, with enough flying to entertain. Andrade looks like a natural in there. Oscar looked good too. It felt like there was good chemistry and this was a match that absolutely would have worked well on tv.
- Asuka def. Emma (w/Dana Brooke) - Another solid match. It felt a lot like a replay of last night in Winter Haven. It's good, but I've seen it. I will give credit to Dana Brooke. She makes the most out of being an agitator at ringside.
- Levis Valenzuela def. Chris Girard - Decent match, although I expected better. Half of the match felt like it was Levis working a headlock. I do like Girard's work though. He fits right in as an old school, hard hitting heel.
- Cameron def. Adrienne Reese - A solid match. Cameron looks decent in the ring. There's still a little too much of her offense that consists of using hair pulling. Reese is an exceptional talent though. She always looks good in these matches.
- The Hype Bros def. The Vaudevillains - Another fun match between these two. It was longer than the previous night with a few more false finishes. The Vaudevillains are now coming out with the hats and coats they wore in Brooklyn and are working as heels. The crowd loved the Hype Bros. They were way into Mojo getting the hot tag.
This was a better show than the Winter Haven event the night before. The work was stronger and it had a hotter crowd. I enjoyed it. They really made the most out of a roster that is lacking a majority of the top stars.
Notes:
- The meet and greet before the show was: Hugo Knox, Tucker Knight, and Adrienne Reese.
