An interesting question. I don't know what the building is worth but a piece of real estate that big has to be worth millions of dollars.
Obviously this would never happen but... If CM Punk decided he wanted to wrestle again tomorrow and reached out to Vince- despite all the bad blood, lawsuits, problems with Triple H, etc- would Vince bring Punk back? And would Punk be pushed as a top guy? Maybe even win the title? Just curious for your take. My gut says he'd bring him back in a heartbeat. But whether he would push him or bury him, I'm on the fence for that one.
It won't happen, even if CM Punk wanted it to. Punk is under contract to UFC and until he fulfills those obligations and/or is released, there's no way he could even have a conversation with WWE. As recently as yesterday, Punk blew off the idea of a return. He was released/fired on his wedding day and even if you clear the table of all the other issues, personal or otherwise, that is a hard one to get over - having that black cloud ruin not just your day but your wife's day. I don't foresee that relationship repairing anytime soon, if ever.
Why do you think they ultimately went with Sheamus? He had no steam on him, he'd been booked terribly the past couple months, and I don't feel many people see him as a top guy anymore (if ever). I'm personally not a Reigns fan but it seems like many are, and Ambrose gets huge ovations. Either would have been solid options to run with the ball so to speak. Or if they didn't like either of them, Vince literally could have hand picked anyone else, put them in the tournament and had them win the thing. No "creative" necessary. Just by winning the tournament they are almost instantly a credible champion. But Sheamus on the other hand has done nothing significant in months.
Vince McMahon wanted Sheamus. Nothing else mattered. It was his vision and his call.
For about 30 seconds, RAW had me hooked on Monday. I thought we were finally going to see something new, with the Wyatts facing the League of Nations. I was into it. The live crowd wanted it...and then they threw 8 more wrestlers in, totally watered it down and made me not care. How can Vince not notice the crowd reactions and adjust accordingly?
Perhaps he did. We'll know in time. There is no argument that WWE hit on something, perhaps without even meaning to do so, and missed an opportunity on Monday. If they circle back there after the PPV, they might have something worth exploring in terms of a babyface Wyatt Family.
With the talk of Hack Meyers' sad passing, it made me wonder about some other lower card ECW talents. Whatever happened to Devon Storm, Damian Kane, JT Smith and Don E. Allen?
Devon Storm later became Crowbar in WCW and still wrestles today in the Northeastern independent scene, more for fun than because he needs to make a living. He owns several physical therapy clinics in New Jersey and has done great for himself post-business.
JT Smith is retired and last I've heard, is living in Virginia.
Don E. Allen pops up every now and then at events, but hasn't wrestled in some time. He's living in the Delaware/PA area and has released several music CDs.
Damian Kane is living in Florida the last I heard.
