When Tommy Dreamer popped up in WWE again I assumed it was because of the TNA shows in India being canceled, the timing of the TLC PPV which falls into Dreamer's wheelhouse, and a shortage of established talent (see Vince McMahon). But now I see that he is booked well into the new year and passed TLC, and then there's the idea of another ECW guy(s) being brought in; is it possible that Vince is trying to move the needle by squeezing every last drop out of the ECW cache that he can?
I loved ECW as much as the next guy but it’s been dead for almost 15 years now. There isn’t much cache left to squeeze there. They brought in Dreamer because he was available and it made sense. I give them credit for that.
Thoughts on a crazy theory: If he's medically cleared to wrestle, do we not see a DB return until after WM? Going with the assumption that Reigns closes WM as champion, any chance that DB could be in the mix would only diminish any momentum Reigns could have by then, right?
If Bryan is cleared to go, the one place he can’t return is at The Royal Rumble again. WWE bringing him back there last year is a big reason why Roman Reigns has faced the fan backlash that he did. By having Bryan enter the Rumble and quickly get eliminated, it angered the fans. So, a Rumble return would be a bad, bad move. With that said, if they can get him for Mania, I think they have to use him there. They are down Randy Orton and Seth Rollins and they will need all of the star power that they can get for the show. I think if he can work, he has to have a match at Mania. They can book it in such a way where it comes across as a bonus that the fans were not expecting and it should be fine.
So are we going to finally see someone cane Dewey?
Knowing Vince McMahon and his penchant for stuff like that, it wouldn’t shock me in the least to see it happen (provided someone explains to him that Cane Dewey was a sign back at the old ECW Arena which really angered Dewey’s father, Mick Foley).
What may be your take on Nia Jax? Me I like her, I see alot of potential.
I do too. My only concern is that she is so much bigger than most of the other women. But good booking can get around that.
Rusev used to be the type of heel Vince historically tends to like: a big intimidating foreign heel who had a LOT of heat. Then they interjected him into sappy love triangle storylines and has him kissing girls all the time. Have they ruined his character for good, and how do they expect people to take him seriously again if they want to push him as a monster heel again?
It is not just him either. Vince used to understand the point of making heels tough. During the decade of John Cena, he has gotten away from that and the talents have suffered. He needs to get back to promoting heels as being tough, not goofs, weak or cowards. Part of what makes a match work is wondering who will win.
