I'm not sure if American sports have this but in the UK some football clubs (soccer) have supporters meetings in which club officials discuss aspects of the club with fans asking questions. Would Vince ever entertain the idea with fans and website owners to get to the bottom of this awful product? I know they have conference calls but that seems to be about finances rather than the creative side of things.
At this point in time, I don’t see it happening. Vince has shown no interest in getting outside opinions on his product. And let’s be honest, he has focus groups he can listen to at every show. If he really wants to get their takes on things, all he has to do is listen to their reactions. Yes, sometimes a guy getting cheered doesn’t equate to making money down the road, but sometimes it does. He should listen to the fans a little more clearly.
Everybody is on WWE's case about the Charlotte-Paige thing but why aren't they saying anything to Charlotte. WWE would have discussed it with her and she said yes. If she was uncomfortable she could have said no. Plus, she could have consulted her parents and gotten their opinions before giving the green light. WWE isn't responsible for consulting them.
First and foremost, if WWE has an idea they want to do with you, and you say no, many times that will be the last idea that they have for you. Talent knows this and it puts them in the position to do what the company wants them to do. Even if you don’t think that WWE had a responsibility to contact Charlotte’s mother, Ric Flair works for WWE. He is under contract. That alone should have gotten him a call before the angle aired. But more than that, he is one of HHH’s best friends. I would have expected one of my best friends to call me before an angle like that was run on TV.
How much money are WWE throwing away (pre injury of course but even the summer until now of this would ensure he came back hot) by not marketing the whole ‘CESARO SECTION’ movement along with pushing him as more than someone who loses 15 minute matches on Smackdown?
It was totally ridiculous that they didn’t run with something that took off organically. To me, it wouldn’t matter if I booked or the fans made it happen on their own, if I was booking I would give them more of what they wanted and appreciate the money that they spent on it. Vince is more of the “I want my ideas to get over†philosophy.
After having watched the finale to the WWE World Heavyweight Title tournament, once again I feel a massive opportunity has been lost. How can anybody in creative conclude that putting the title on Sheamus, somebody who the fans have not cared about for months, is the best way to create momentum and fill the gap caused by lack of character building and injuries to key stars. In my opinion, it would have been better to have Dean Ambrose turn on Roman Reigns and receive assistance from the Authority on the way to winning the title. This would have put Dean Ambrose in his natural position as a heel, filling the void left by Set Rollins with somebody who the fans are already invested in. Any views?
I would have hated if they turned Dean. It’s too Vince Russo-crutch booking. Plus, they are now down two top babyface in John Cena and Randy Orton. They need top good guys. I would give Dean a shot in that role before I turned him for no reason. As for Sheamus, well WWE is in their slowest month of the year. If it turns out Roman beats Sheamus at TLC, I am fine with that because it got the briefcase out of the picture. As you said, Sheamus is not viewed as a top guy right now so it’s best that he get the MITB win out of the way.
Is there any chance WWE listens to Mick Foley and his post about WWE losing him as a fan? There is no doubt he's right. My question is, is a legend like himself being listened to?
It isn’t “WWE†that needs to listen. It’s Vince McMahon. Believe me, there are LOT of people in that company that know exactly what the problems are right now with the creative process. But, they also know that the process runs through the boss so they are not going to go up against him and incur his wrath. One man needs to listen, and that’s Vince. Will he? I honestly don’t know.
