Nick Bockwinkel, who was one of the truly all-time great champions, passed away overnight at the age of 80 years old.
He held the AWA Championship four times over his illustrious career. He was also a three time AWA Tag Team Champion, with Ray Stevens.
Bockwinkel was universally seen as one of the most classy and intelligent people that the wrestling business has ever seen.
