ABYSS' CLAIMS HE WAS GOING TO WWE, WHAT IF NXT HAD 7 HOURS OF PROGRAMMING LIKE THE MAIN ROSTER AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2015-11-12 10:00:00
Are you buying Abyss' claim that he was going to WWE and slated to face The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 23? And, if the claim is true, was it a huge mistake not to accept the offer?

100% correct. We reported that he had an offer from WWE at the time. There was a period where his TNA deal had expired for several weeks. Everything he claimed was absolutely on the money correct. As far as whether he made a mistake or not, it's hard to make a decision based on where you might be ten years later. At that point, TNA seemed far more vibrant and more of a legitimate alternative product to WWE, so I don't think he made a mistake. He wanted to be loyal to the company that made him a commodity. There's something you have to respect about that.

Hi, guys. What can you tell me about Paragon Pro Wrestling? I came across in on the Pop tv network Saturday morning. None of the announcers are familiar to me. Jesse Sorenson and Wes Briscoe are the only wrestlers I'm familiar with there. Is this the organization Jeff Jarrett was trying to get off the ground?

No, this is not the Jeff Jarrett promotion. That is GFW, which as of this writing, does not have a TV outlet. Paragon Pro Wrestling is a new company out of Las Vegas run by Jeff Manning, who also has a promotion in Oregon.

Is there any study on the rate of head injuries in NJPW? These guys have arguably the most physical style of wrestling in the world. Do you think they need to tone it down a notch for the safety of the wrestlers?

To the best of my knowledge, there has not been a study on that subject. I always want to see guys and women work safely, but I think culturally, that's just sort of the style that is wanted and accepted. I don't know we'll see them take a stance similar to WWE but they are also pushing for a sports-oriented, adult crowd.

I am a fan of NXT as much as anybody. Watch it every week. But I keep seeing all over that it is so much better done than WWE. So I am curious as to how you think it would do in a three month span leading up to one of the major PPV's while telling all their story lines over 7 hours of TV each week instead of 1?

My guess is you would probably see the same fatigue and issues that plague WWE from time to time. One of the reasons NXT works so well is that it is only an hour of material a week, preventing talents and storylines from being overexposed.

About five minutes into this weeks Breaking Ground, SoCal Val is shown entering the building to watch an NXT live event. It is brief, and she is presented as a fan. Was her being used in the brief clip a complete coincidence? Or has she had any kind of a roll with WWE behind the scenes or otherwise?

Coincidence. She was there visiting. She is not signed to WWE.
