WHERE THINGS STAND FOR LUCHA UNDERGROUND, WWE-EVOLVE DEAL DEAD?, WHO SHOULD BE THE NEXT WWE LEGEND STATUE REVEALED AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2015-09-18 10:00:41
What is the latest on the WWE-EVOLVE deal? We haven't heard any news. Is it dead?

Whatever the deal could be, it's not dead yet that I have heard. I think people forget what a massive monster WWE is as a corporate entity. They take a lot of time doing due diligence because as a publicly traded company, they have to protect the interest of their shareholders. It's not as simple as saying, "Let's work together" and then they do. We'll see what happens, but right now, to the best of my knowledge, they are still talking.

Any update on Lucha Underground?

They are trying to put financing together so they can continue to produce the series at the level they've brought it to for their first season. The latest that had been said is that they know what budgeting they will get from the El Rey Network and are working on getting additional funding by lining up additional outlets to air the series, such as Netflix or international distribution.

Who do you think will be the next statue WWE reveals at Wrestlemania?

It was initially supposed to be Hulk Hogan, but that's obviously out the window. I like the idea of Steve Austin. They can reveal it in the city he started his career. That's pretty fitting.

Am I crazy or is Kurrgan in "Pacific Rim"?

You aren't crazy. Robert Maillet, who performed as Kurrgan, is now a professional actor and is indeed in the film.

What's next for Torito? Could WWE bring in Minis for him to work with?

My guess is Torito gets eventually placed with the Lucha Dragons. No idea on whether WWE would bring in other Minis, but traditionally, the idea has never panned out longterm for them.
