HOGAN VS. FLAIR AT WRESTLEMANIA, DARK JOURNEY, TNA USING WWE TWITTER HANDLES ON IMPACT & MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2015-08-27 10:00:00
So I'm looking at some TNA Wrestling posters for upcoming Impact Wrestling shows and I've noticed Ethan Carter vs PJ Black. However for PJ Black it shows his Twitter handle as @Justin_Gabriel. I've also noticed Tyrus uses @BrodusClay and other former NXT talents have WWE in their Twitter handles like the former CJ Parker. So my question is can and should WWE threaten any legal of former talents (who appear on TV for other companies) change their trademarked WWE names? Thanks!

It's certainly possible, but the WWE-related Twitter names are their Twitter names. Factually, TNA is passing along information, not trading off on WWE's copyrights and trademarks.

I was looking at ROH and WWN Live's video library and wondered if they could do a similar subscription model like WWE network for $9.99 a month. Then I figured they couldn't afford to do that due to their business model. But, then I see CZW (a smaller Indy) start a subscription VOD service for $9.99 a month. So the question is, could ROH and WWN Live feasibly create a subscription VOD service for $9.99 a month?

It's possible but I don't believe they will. They have their own systems in place and I don't see them changing them anytime soon.

There was a young woman long ago who went by the name of Dark Journey. Who was she? Whatever happened to her?

Dark Journey left the business in the mid-1980s and lives in California. She occasionally does convention appearances and will be doing one in New Jersey on 10/3 for Legends of the Ring.

With NXT Takeover taking place the night before SummerSlam, what do you think the internal reaction would be of they draw similar viewing figures on the Network, or even NXT gets more views? Does WWE release their viewing figures for individual shows?

WWE does not release individual streaming figures. My guess is that they would be very, very happy about NXT doing Summerslam-level numbers.

Why didn't the match between Hogan and Flair happen at WM 8?

It was never scheduled to happen. WWF ran the match when Flair first debuted and wasn't happy with the drawing power of the bout, so they never positioned it as a Wrestlemania main event. As it would turn out, the match wouldn't take place on PPV until Hulk Hogan came to WCW in 1994.

What company/territory would have benefited the most if Wrestlemania 1 wasn't a success?

All of them would have, because if Mania 1 had bombed, that was the end of the WWF. Verne Gagne, Bill Watts and Jim Crockett would have been thrilled with the latter two certainly being in a position to try and fill that void.

Do you think the Rock vs. Hogan match should have been the main event match at WM 18?

It was the main event. It just didn't go on last.
